Civil War Historian Ed Bearss died yesterday (well into his 90s). Not sure where to post this but I feel we, especially Americans who know and love our history, have suffered a real loss. If any of you read his writings about the Civil War, you got a real treat and - if you got to take a battlefield tour with him - you understand why his passing needs to be noted. If there is a better place to post the passing of non-athletes, please let me know or, perhaps, open the General Discussion thread that is temporarily closed. Thanks.

My late father was a past long-time President of the CWRT of Central Mass, knew Ed fairly well, was a speaker at CW forums with him a few times on various topics, and always spoke so highly of him. Ed was an incredible asset to our National Park Service. R.I.P. Ed.
