Navy hits a FG on the last play of the game to beat Tulane 27-24 after training 24-0 at the half. It is the biggest comeback in school history. Most impressive.

...after Tulane came back from a similar deficit in their opener.

The safety that made it 24-16 was the play of the game. GO MIDS!
We should've done a PL pick'em with Army and Navy games. Oh well.

Saw parts of the App State/Marshall game. App State lost despite a couple of great chances and missed opportunities.
One particular play had Marshall fooled thinking a run and a pass over the middle and as the App State player rumbled to about the 8 yard line on a defender second punch at the ball succeeded to pop it out where a teammate recovered in the end zone for a touchback killing one probable TD (down 17-7).
Next time down, App State goes for a 31 yard FG - wide right.
TV kept showing the fumblee with red eyes and the kicker. Felt badly for both.

Duke fumbled in the red zone- both in their own and in BCs. Also missed a 35 yard field goal and a PAT.

The abridged schedules (ACC), late starts (Big Ten) and cancellations (PAC 12) of some of the major conferences has given a lot of smaller schools the opportunity to play in prime spots on national TV.
Navy-Tulane 1pm on CBS App State-Marshall 430pm on ABC
You've had a bunch of FCS teams playing on ESPN and ESPN2 on Saturdays -- Stephen F. Austin, Central Arkansas, Austin Peay, Houston Baptist, etc.
Too bad the Ivy and PL couldn't have capitalized on this given the low COVID death and hospitalization rates in our part of the country. Oh well.

Oh well. Although too late for HC (who had trouble occupying their own campus let alone fielding a team) it is interesting that Notre Dame has not had a covid spike (much less a covid hospitalization spike) following their first home game (with 16K students/player families in the outdoor stands) 8 days ago v Duke. One suspects a further triumph of data and science will soon take effect (on top of the Big 10 decision reversing its football ban) regarding students in the outdoor stadiums of all colleges. (There were essentially 0 fans - students or otherwise - at yesterday's Tulane v Navy game due to Covid restrictions.)

One suspects a further triumph of data Absence of data to refute a position does not necessarily mean that position is correct, especially when there's a lack of data to support any position.

My position has always been that data, by itself, is worthless, unless and until it gets converted into information, which is often critical. Too often I've seen and heard people spouting numbers and without context, not worth spit. Just MHO. [Then, again, I was a history major]
