I believe they could sell alcohol if they wanted to. BU does. The prohibition on booze is for NCAA tournament events. No doubt about that. Even at DCU.
However, I can't say that I'm in favor of it. Opens up a big can of worms if you ask me.
I think I would try and plan around the roadblocks that they've put up. Get there early, make sure I had tickets, etc. But when you go there spur-of-the-moment, it's difficult to enjoy oneself in the manner we're used to.
Do they frisk people too?

I'm pretty sure the alcohol thing is for on campus events as well as tournament stuff. I'm not sure where BU's "campus" is. Alcohol is not served at Conte Forum or Alumni Stadium at BC - but there is a well defined campus. BU is just kind of dumped into the city. It's pretty fuzzy to say Agganis is on or off campus. Perhaps I wasn't paying attention , but I don't recall beer being sold at the one game I attended last year, although that was at the Roof, not Agganis. They did not frisk me going in

1) West Virginia football stadium 2) LSU (for a baseball game against U. of New Orleans -- this was when I was on the HC immersion trip a year after Katrina)
Also, I didn't notice at the one home game I was at last year but didn't someone saw alcohol was sold at the Hart Center last year? Could've sworn that was mentioned on the old board.

In the Bud Ryan room for special pre-game events they sold alcohol but the stazi made sure no one left the room with alcohol.

Agree that the aggressive tailgating policies are more likely to ultimately result in fewer fannies in the seats than more.

Carlin96....THANK YOU for posting this. Glad I'm not the only one who cant stand the new RSIG "Security". I've been saying this on the board for the past 3 years and I think alum and donors have had it! Part of the main reason why I did not renew my 2016 season tickets. Hopefully this gets more attention and the RSIG company is promptly fired. The product stinks, at least let the folks who support the program enjoy the game day tailgates.

Serious question - was the seal broken? I know at Fenway Park you're allowed to bring in bottled water or soda if the seal is intact but not if it's broken. I imagine the assumption is that if the seal is broken that you really don't know the contents of the bottle. It seems like a reasonable compromise No the seal wasn't broken. Regardless, it was ridiculous. I've had season tickets forever. My father has had his seats for over 60 years. This is the 2nd or 3rd year now that season ticket holders have to pay to park on the baseball field - which is fine but let's allow some flexibility! I'm over it today, just had to vent, but I'm hoping the athletic department and security can soften their stance somewhat. Just trying to figure out the rest of the season (or several games) w/out Pujals!!! +1 but I am not over it. They are like this EVERY HOME GAME. Will not renew season tickets until there is a change. Many more alum season ticket holders I spoke with will be doing the same.

The Holy Cross tailgating experience has been transformed over the last few years from a simple, pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon to a frustrating, uncomfortable waste of effort where visitors to campus are exposed to belligerent, offensive behavior by paid agents of my alma mater. The only silver lining in the whole affair, reinforced emphatically by the empty stadium, is that thankfully few are around to experience the full brunt of it. I have sought to influence Holy Cross otherwise, without success. My apparently insignificant 4-figure annual contribution now goes to the Nativity School of Worcester, an institution that, to the best of my knowledge, does not accost children, mothers and grandmothers and confiscate their juice boxes and umbrella-weapons. It is a shame.

We could lessen the hassle by having the TSA take over.

They did not frisk me going in The NCAA has no rules banning alcohol at on-campus facilities. It is left up to the individual schools/leagues. There are dozens of on-campus football stadiums where alcohol is sold. The NCAA traditionally has banned alcohol sales at all tournament games that it controls. However it was allowed at the College World Series this year, and that any be expanded to other NCAA events.

We could lessen the hassle by having the TSA take over. Let's see if anyone can answer this trivia question about NE college basketball. 5-6 years ago I took a plane trip and the TSA guy* that checked my laptop was the victim of an assault by a famous teammate. Who was the teammate and who was the victim? *I'm 200% sure about this, he had his ID badge on and he was a guy my hs used to play against.

While I was flying at least twice a month the last 14 years of my career and encountered TSA folks all across the country, I was fortunate to have PVD as my home base where the TSA were almost to a person courteous and even friendly most times (maybe they just recognized me ?). The same could not be said at airports like SFO, ORD, LAX, ATL and many of the larger airports. They have a tough and pretty much thankless job and why I usually tried to be understanding. Anyway, that's my background and why I got such a chuckle from Sarasota's post.

They are using the threat of terrorism as a scapegoat to make sure they stop everyone from sneaking in outside food or beverages.

Since my titanium hip didn't make the detector go off, I wonder if they're turned on.

Navy allows tailgating with no hassle whatsoever. Perhaps HC can travel to Annapolis and learn something. The Navy Tailgates are awesome and really encourage their alumni to come back for games. I can still find my grandfathers class of 53 tailgate balloon flying in the parking lot with some of his former teammates still coming back for games.

This was already mentioned in another post but I would like to echo the same praise to HC. A dramatic change was certainly felt as RSIG was MUCH better and much more respectful to alum from what I could see. Made a fantastic day that much better.
