As long as this Baseball date topic is hot. Forget 1951 and the cheating Giants. On October 4, 1955, the greatest day in Brooklyn history, “Wait till next year” finally.came as my beloved Dodgers finally beat the hated team from the Bronx in Game 7 in the Bronx. A 2-0 complete game by the 23 year old Johnny Podres. One of the best sites at the Hall of Fame is the two magnificent life size statues commemorating the final pitch of that game. Podres to Roy Campanella. One of the great catches in WS history was made by Sandy Amoros.

I count 6 Hall Of Famers who played for the Dodgers that season. Can you name them without consulting the roster? One may be difficult, five should be easy. Manager Walter Alston would make the 7th uniformed Dodger to make the Hall. but I'm just looking for 1955 Dodger players

Don Drysdale Gil Hodges should be in the Hall as a player-World Series champ manager in 1969, greatest upset in WS history. From worst ever in 1962.

Don Drysdale did not debut with the Dodgers until 1956--as a 19 YO--so we are still looking for the sixth 1955 Dodger player who made the Hall

Tommy Lasorda pitched in 4 games Correct! He's the 6th 1955 Dodgers player who made the HOF. The 6 is quite a lot, no doubt, but there are a few teams with more, e.g. the 1927-1928 Philadelphia A's who had all the well known A's players but also had swan song seasons from the likes of Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Zach Wheat. I'd guess that the Yankees may have had 6 or more in a season-will have to check

Tommy Lasorda had three seasons in the majors, per baseballreference.com.
For his three year career, he had an 0-4 record with a 6.48 ERA in 26 appearances with 6 starts. He had 2 seasons in Brooklyn and one with the KC A's.

So did the 1931-33 Yankees (Ruth, Gehrig, Ruffing, Sewell, Dickey, Lazzeri, Combs, Pennock, Gomez).

Good find. First time I read it, I thought you were saying Lasorda appeared in 4 WS games. As a player, he was pretty obscure, 9 different seasons w/Montreal, their AAA team; which is in itself ironic because he always seemed to have little battles there with the fans (including getting Youppi the mascot kicked out of a game).

Okay-one more Dodgers trivia question. Four Dodgers have recorded 1,000 or more career RBI as Dodgers. You may count RBI's as Brooklyn and/or LA Dodgers but not RBI the player posted for other teams (e.g. Ron Cey had 1,000+ career RBI but got some as a Cub and fewer than 1,000 for the Dodgers). You don't have to guess them in order but I'll record them that way. I'd say 2 of the players should be very easy and 2 not so easy

Campy did not reach 1000 rbi. He came to MLB at age 26 and played only around 1200 games for the Dodgers with 856 RBI
Garvey went to the Padres about a dozen RBI short of the 1,000.

Babe Herman had two big RBI seasons with the Dodgers (113 & 130) but was on the team for only 6 years before management, tired of his annual arguments over his salary, traded him to Cincinnati. He had 594 RBI in those 6 years
