The ECHL has announced they will be having an abbreviated season with two levels of start up times. Not everyone is playing the same number of games so standings will be based on winning percentage instead of points.
There is not a lot of TV for the ECHL so I assume they're counting on fans in the stands.
Per local radio - and I see no mention of this in any press release I see on line - 50 percent capacity of the building, every other row empty, no one in an aisle seat (so people going to and fro aren't too close to anyone), masks required.
Speaking locally, this would be a piece of cake for the Railers. They never pull in close to 50 percent . The hardest part would be enforcing people to not only wear a mask, but to do so properly. Also need to get by local and state health guidelines
-------
Totally contrary to everything I've posted, but IF this actually happens, it bodes well for setting foot in Hart. If these protocols are safe enough for the Railers, I would think they'd be safe enough for HC too. At 50 percent capacity some fans might be turned away, but not a huge number. The Railers have the advantage that they are a local business losing money. The government might be more lenient with them than a side recreational activity happening at a non-profit. Also, even IF the state says fans are allowed at Hart, there is no guarantee that HC will take advantage. The state says that normal lectures can happen live with social distancing, but HC chooses to be more strict. Fans watching inside sports in Worcester would give me a glimmer of hope of seeing the Crusaders in person this season. Not much, but a glimmer is more than zero

Personal gripe: those who think that wearing a mask covering their mouth but not nose is okie-dokey. Either that or they simply don't want to wear a mask and doing this is a form of protest. "You can make me wear a mask but you can't make me wear it correctly!"

If I put myself in Father B's black wingtips (actually never noticed what he or any Priest wears for shoes) I don't want to touch any extra liability that isn't central to HC surviving the pandemic, with a ten foot pole. There must be ordinary expenses and extraordinary expenses in a pandemic to meet all of a sponsor's responsibilities to the public when charging admission to a venue. I feel for the Joshua/NAD level fan but even with the most intensive and expensive mitigation efforts, attendance would probably be way down this season with constant media bombardment of the second wave hitting in the winter. It's not an essential activity to attend in person when the games are on the internet/TV/Radio. I can't see the risk/reward ratio of live fans before a vaccine is widely available being attractive to TPTB.

"You can make me wear a mask but you can't make me wear it correctly!" The virus goes into and out of the honker more than the mouth, so that is a critical orifice to cover.

"You can make me wear a mask but you can't make me wear it correctly!" Likely most people wear it that way briefly because they have an itch or want to un-fog their glasses. But covering the nose is obviously necessary if you wish to fully reduce the odds of spreading germs.

'10, wish you were right but the people I've watched aren't doing it for a few moments to scratch their nose.

I don't think anybody is talking about pulling it down for a few seconds and replacing. Joe Biden was on the news this week talking about something with a mask on his face and not on his nose - and he is a big advocate of masks and is normally seen covering both nose and mouth. Sometimes it happens and it's not intentional.

My gripe is not with Joe Biden or anyone whose mask slips down accidently while talking or scratching his/her nose. I'm talking about people who purposely have it on the mouth but under the nose and aren't wearing glasses that are fogging up. If you haven't seen these people, lucky you. Maybe it only happens in RI whose citizens generally do an outstanding job wearing masks (properly). It is a small minority of either ignorant or spiteful people. End of rant.
