The 2021 Boston Marathon has been postponed.
The marathon is normally run in Mid-April. Officials are saying next year's race will be on some undetermined date in the fall.
On an editorial note, I haven't heard of anything else being postponed 6 + months in advance. I suppose there is a ton of planning involved and it was a major hassle when they postponed this year's race with only one month's notice

I have seen how important is race is to so many people. Postponing it, with all that has happened in the past, is sad to hear.

Definitely a good move. There's no guarantee that everything will be "back to normal", or anywhere close to that, by April.
If we can't get back to getting together en masse by Fall 2021, God help what's left of this world.

By MA guidelines, this sort of thing won't be happening until Phase IV - which is when there's a vaccine. Not sure if it will be immediate or after sufficient distribution for herd immunity. There's been a lot of talk on this board about fans in the Hart this winter. Hearing this announcement has given me doubts if I'll be sitting in Fenway Park next summer

Oct 26, 74,000 new cases in the US, after 7 months. No chance anyone is going to plan a gathering of 30,000 people in Mass, maybe not anytime in '21

ROF LOL.
