Really a shame - we have a few HC grads who are playing on the echl who will not have the opportunity to get to the next level - was the AHL (triple A of hockey) will have a season I assume given that they are the feeder league to the NHL.

They'll probably leave the decision on the AHL up to the parent clubs. In baseball, they had a training session going on at a separate site (for the Sox, Pawtucket) and they worked out and played intrasquad games; so that if there was an injury or illness (or someone plain stunk, like a lot of Red Sox pitchers), they had alternatives. That might work in hockey, or they need to play games with other groups. But they would probably be before no audience so one would think they would not be played in large or even moderate sized buildings.

The ECHL is still playing but the Railers entire division and quite a few other teams are not. Tough for the Railers to have a season with their home rink being used as a field hospital.

Let's just hope that a year from now there's a pent-up demand for all kinds of live events and the Railers can be successful (and that they have the resources to hang on in the interim).
A lot of us (me included to a lesser degree than some) threw cold water on that franchise, but no one could have imagined these circumstances.
