Well that's comforting. Based on winning percentage and a shorter schedule, 2 wins would be better than last year. Glad the analyst thinks 2 or wins is likely. Also comforting that the freshman the analyst has the most faith in is a guy who hasn't practiced with the team yet. That review and placement in our own private tier makes me think back to something my high school algebra teacher used to tell us: "I'm going to be drinking real early tonight"

The freshmen forecast is most likely based on their HS games, not pre-season practice. Nice Louth highlights. I would be surprised if RJ does not start.

I note that we as a group have quite different expectations about R J, Johnson than the "experts" on this site have....

My major expectation is that he will start considering he was recruited to start. After that, as with most freshmen, who knows ?

This from the Globe..
HOLY CROSS
Brett Nelson’s first season in Worcester was a disaster, as the Cross finished 3-29. Two freshmen who showed potential have transferred. Two incoming transfers — 6-6 Gerrale Gates and 6-5 Malcolm Townsel — will have to produce quickly. Gates is not eligible yet as the Cross waits for the NCAA to rule on his request for a waiver. There are also six freshmen.
Holy Cross head coach Brett Nelson figures to have a sizable challenge this season. JULIO CORTEZ/ASSOCIATED PRESS Prediction: 3-13. This is an inexperienced team that has 10 games against two tough teams, BU and Colgate.
Ceiling: 6-10. Gates gets his waiver; he and Townsel quickly become mainstays. The freshmen have some good moments.

Interesting. I do hope that we get to see Gates (waiver received) this season. This will be the year we get to see just how good our coaches are with Xs and Os. GO CROSS!

Assuming that will be the case with GG and this year, whatever this season ends up being, will not count against his eligibility, I am all for it. If HC is going to count it, (I have no idea what HC or the PL thinks of this "free year", then I prefer he sit out.

I'm just hoping that playing BU/Colgate 10 times (assuming that happens!) will pay dividends for our young guys down the road.
Obviously not thrilled to see HC in its own tier, but the site does make the effort to provide a lot of info with their previews. You could spend a day going through their conference by conference previews!

How about Army with a 24 man roster including 11 plebes ! I saw that their frosh football class this fall totaled 71 players - do you think they're taking their sports seriously ? At least we know they can't play with more than 5 at a time

Probably, but I think Clock Tower will back me up when I say the algebra teacher was the only one who regularly announced we were driving him to drink. (one of his other common quotes was "why do I get all the morons?" I don't think teachers talk like that today)

If this preview doesn’t serve as epic bulletin board material for our guys, I can’t imagine what would.

On the bright side it is very tough (IMHO) to beat a hoops team four out of four or six out of six in one regular season. It is not like a Washington Generals v Harlem Globetrotters series of matchups so I'm thinking we can steal at least two of those games. Some wacky stuff is sure to occur this Covid season. And, as Tom pointed out, that mathematically puts us ahead of the curve vis a vis last year. So color me optimistic that we'll be improved this year.

Spent many a Friday aft before I got my license waiting for my lift, since having him last class of the day, as soon as he saw the beer delivery truck backing into campus "beep-beep-beep" he would stop class and cut us loose. 30 kids roaming the halls like a pack of wild dogs. No joke. Many other funny stories about him too... Long passed, but still revered by all those who had him.
