COVID isn't going anywhere. You may have a shot with football since fans would be outside, and even during "Normal Times" there's plenty of space to be socially distant at Fitton Field. However, the risk to the students, coaching staff, support staff, etc. and the Patriot League (among others') stance thus far indicates that nobody should be planning an afternoon to watch a game any time soon.

If we had a short football 'season' this spring would we allow live fans at Fitton? The 'err on the safe side' mentality (as opposed to following the science and data) suggests to me a 'no' on any outdoor, masked, and widely dispersed fans (and probably a no on the HC/PL football season).

There won't be fans at HC for any sporting event until September. That's my guess.
Time to sign up for ESPN+

It would make sense for some small percentage of capacity to be allowed. So, pretty much a guarantee that the state of Massachusetts will not allow it.

It's nuts for groups of parents/siblings to not be allowed to spread out in Fitton or any of the other PL sites. Perfectly safe. Bet the groups wouldn't be within 10 feet of each other.

Restroom restrictions will be an impediment to having fans in the stands at Fitton.
The need for updated facilities in the stadium is apparent. While you can spread out in the stands, you cannot socially distance in the restrooms or at concessions.

While you can spread out in the stands, you cannot socially distance in the restrooms or at concessions. With 3000 fans, bathrooms can easily have distanced lines and one family in at a time. Concessions could also be done if you wanted to but I’m guessing fans would gladly trade no concessions for a chance to go to the game.

Every time Ive taken a leak in Fitton, Ive had an entire trough to myself. Distancing in the john won't be a problem

Have 5,000 fans sitting in a 25,000 stadium would pose no issues whatsoever.

Fitton has concessions and bathrooms under the stands near the end zone. Concessions were always closed. But bathrooms were always open.

Guess you haven’t been in the Fitton men’s rooms for some time. The trough was removed I believe over a decade ago.
Glad it is gone. Very unsanitary.
Anyone remember the bathroom accommodations on the visitors side at Dartmouth’s Memorial Field before they remodeled?
Has anyone seen the Covid guidelines and requirements for bathrooms set by the Commonwealth? It will impact the decision.

When we reopened public golf here in NY many months ago there (of course) were folks against it. Their final fallback and unavailing argument was bathroom- related. Science had long left the discussion.

Pretty sure the Yale Bowl still has a robust trough system.

Dartmouth had multiple Porta Johns on the visitors side for a number of years. When they constructed the Floren Varsity House, they finally built “indoor facilities on the visitors side of the field.
The Yale Bowl for a hosts of reasons is an awful place to attend a game. I am sure with our record at the Bowl, the coaching staff over the years would agree. The only really decent stadium regarding size, accommodations and parking in the Ivy League is Princeton Stadium. I would enjoy the renewal of a series with the Tigers.

I was at the game as well. Fortunately stayed until the fantastic finish. Had a nice conversation a couple of years ago with Tim D at the Ring of Honor ceremony regarding the “Play”. The game has been ranked #3 as the most painful of Princeton’s football losses. Princeton’s QB for the game in 1988 has faded into obscurity, toiling in futility near the site of Jimmy Hoffa’s alleged resting place.😁
I don’t recall going to the restrooms in Palmer Stadium, but I do remember the scaffolding and netting walking into the stadium to repair the concrete from falling down. The replacement stadium Power Field at Princeton Stadium, which opened in 1998 has been designed using an open architectural design to that the field can be viewed from the surrounding concourse. At the open end of the U, Princeton built a Weaver Stadium for track. I attended the IC4A’s at the Weaver about 12 years ago. Would love to see Fitton rebuilt similar to Power Field, but the cost would be prohibited in 2020 dollars, without a bequeathed gift for construction.

Time must just fly -- or I just haven't gone to the bathroom there in that long. Typically I'm in Hogan before the game and 99 afterwards so I guess I just end up using facilities there. I go to at least one game a year there every year, usually two. But I obviously missed Fall 2020 and I did not make a HOME game in 2019. I was a road warrior last year, attending the Navy, Lehigh, Fordham and Monmouth games. Didn't make a home game mainly because my daughter was born last fall. Our baby shower fell UNH week, we had a wedding to attend Harvard week and Gabriella was born the night before the Colgate game.
