Hope contact tracing doesn't show there is reason to quarantine athletes from other HC programs.

I hope those effected recover quickly and that the team gets to resume play at some point.

I hope those effected recover quickly and that the team gets to resume play at some point. An ounce of prevention is worth a hat trick of cure. The hockey team is a small enough universe that immediate testing and tracing can potentially stop a larger outbreak. I am sure UNH is disappointed but glad they dodged a potential problem.

From the HC COVID testing dashboard, last student positive was one case on November 21. One staff person tested positive on November 24. No student positives on Nov 24, 25, and 26. 949 test results reported on Nov 24-26. That would suggest the potential COVID case was a coach.

Contactless coaching (Disciplined adherence to safety protocols) must be successful if no players test positive. Good work HC Athletics.

Two staff with positive tests on Nov 17, two staff with positive tests on Nov 18. Not further identified. I assume HC will continue to test all those who live on-campus, or have the okay to come on campus. But the number of tests between now and January 1 should be much fewer, given the rest of the fall semester is remote.

Men’s series against Bentley this weekend postponed due to a “close contact” within the Bentley program. Not going to be many actual games this season, I fear.

Close used to only count in horseshoes.

Test results reported yesterday (Nov 27) indicated one student positive. I believe the only students on campus that would continue to be tested (70 tests total on Thursday) would be international students, and members of M/W ice hockey and hoops teams.

. . . . . and hand grenades. Think it still does count for the latter.

Nice win for the women’s team, beating teams they should beat, like to see a couple upsets in the future.

Nice win for the women’s team, beating teams they should beat, like to see a couple upsets in the future. Not sure if there are teams we “should beat” yet. There are teams we can beat and we are 2-2 against those teams. There are a group of teams in the middle we probably won’t beat but not completely out of the realm of possibility. And there are a few at the top that would require a minor miracle to beat. Here’s the preseason poll with our 2020-21 record against those teams in parens. 1 Northeastern 90 2 BU 82 3 BC 71 4 UConn 64 5 Providence 56 (0-2) 6 UNH 52 7 Maine 41 (1-1) 8 Vermont 39 9 Merrimack 24 (1-1) 10 HC 21

Lost today’s match in Worcester 3-2 Seems we have better talent than Merrimack as we outshot them 46-20 (yday had a 27-19 edge) - of course good goaltending will win many games as we found out today

The women compete at the highest level in their sport. Time for everyone to donate to the team.
