Some posters on other boards (particularly as you go higher up the food chain) practically blame poor performances by players on the quality of their own lives; that's strange too, in my view.
I don't wish failure on any kid that leaves, but I sure as heck want to kick his butt if he goes up against HC in the future.

Course some might think it strange of someone being up at 5 am on a Sunday morning...... These types of threads , while they always seem to exist on this board, really stick out right now because we're not playing.

I noticed that Jacob Grandison played 2 minutes for Illinois v. Baylor. No points in that game or previous one. He gave up the opportunity to be a big fish in a small pond for the opposite situation. The grass is always greener syndrome.

/\ IMHO Grandi went from a medium fish in a small pond to a (very) small fish in a large pond.
Caleb went from a medium fish in a small pond to a medium fish in a small pond.

The fishing is lousy in all ponds this season. At least these guys get a free year of grad school out of the transfer. And by pure dumb luck they get to postpone entering the job market for a year to let the economy recover. There may be a logjam of '20 and '21 grads competing for a reduced number of openings this spring.

I apologize if this is too much Caleb, but he's really struggling - 2 of 12 (incl 0 of 5 from 3) from the field in yday's loss to Hartford, add 5 turnovers and fouling out of the game. I guess the point here is that sitting out a season helps some and hurts others.

The same might be said of playing for Fairfield or Holy Cross. I hope his game improves and I expect that it will.

Kid is coming back after not having played in a game for what, 20 months. I think they need to cut him some slack.

This is their fourth game and I'm sure he's played a lot of basketball in the last 20 months. This is not a Gordon Hayward type situation.

He looked like the same Caleb to me when I saw him v SBU. He's 5'10" and can handle the ball pretty well. He can hit the open shot. Are there plenty of bigger guards just as quick in D-1? Yes. So he will be challenged on offense and defense.

I am sure he has as well and I didn't mean to imply it is a Gordon Hayward type situation but there is nothing like game atmosphere and experience even without fans. I am sure it will take him a while to get his game legs back.

Two losses to Hartford in a 5 day period would be enough to send any fan base into a frenzy.

Stags with 19 TOs and just 6 assists - on the season, 82 TOs, 34 A.

Looks like Caleb's going to have the long year he would have had a year ago.

Ice hockey - Fairfield had a program awhile back - it’s true they’re emphasizing their basketball program by building a new on campus facility- Lax is up there with b-ball on their campus

Happy for Fairfield; the Bridgeport facility wasn't working and where the play now, except for the no-fans era; is an embarrassment. The place sucked when I was there 50 years ago and it doesn't seem to have been improved to any significant degree.

Kind of a high school look. It makes the Hart Center look like a palace.

They play again tonight at Fairfield. Stays are a discouraged team right now. Could be ugly

Often sold out back in those days. We actually had to sneak in at least once.

A tremendous home court advantage back in the day of Joey DeSantis. The half that the visitors shot into that bleacher area must have been a nightmare.

I coached against Joey when he played with Charley Brown at St.Nicholas of Tolentine in the Bronx. A great passer who was also a fine person. Got to know him when he was a college coach.
