The report may not be a joke, but the fact that this will become an Olympic sport is a complete joke

I thought breakdancing died sometime around 2004. It's probably been on the IOC agenda for 20 years. But, nope, baseball can't be restored to Olympic competition.

No, but more a sport than breakdancing. Our children/grandchildren should start practicing.

It will be interesting to hear the commentators covering the event.
"His back was a little too arched on that hand spin. That will cost him a few points"

There is a difference between an exhibition sport (which a host country can sponsor) and a medal sport with full status. If there were ever breakdancing, I have to assume it would simply be an exhibition.

If there were ever breakdancing, I have to assume it would simply be an exhibition. For 2020, The International Olympic Committee approved the addition of surfing, sport climbing, skateboarding, karate and baseball (men)/softball (women) to the Games. A total of 18 new events will be held to accommodate the new sports, and 474 more athletes will take part. For 2024, breakdancing, sport climbing, surfing, skateboarding. Also 3 on 3 basketball. No baseball or softball. These will probably return in 2028.

All I know is that I'm glad Boston didn't push the Olympic idea. 2028 might seem like a long way away, but with the pandemic, it's not. And, unlike LA (hopefully for their sake), there would have been quite a bit more to build.

And, unlike LA (hopefully for their sake), there would have been quite a bit more to build. I actually thought Boston could have pulled things off cheaper than most cities. Between Foxboro, BC, Harvard, and HC there are some decent size stadiums for soccer, equestrian, and other outdoor events. The Garden, Centrum, Providence Civic Center, and Manchester Civic Center could host indoor events like gymnastics, boxing, wrestling, etc. A decent number of venues are in place. A college could be used as an Olympic Village for the athletes to live in during the games. A much bigger issue would have been dealing with the massive number of spectators and the infrastructure to deal with them
