I hope others got to see Billy Collins '63 webinar tonight. It was at HC where I learned to love poetry and I think he is one of our great alums.

Now if he would put those poems to music he could cash in like Bob Dylan.😉😷

I love so many of his poems it's hard to choose but I really enjoy Introduction to Poetry. It reminded of some of my classes at HC:
I want them to water-ski across the surface of the poem waving at the author's name on the shore.
But all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it.
I saw BC do a reading a few years ago at the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival (an annual summer event in Farmington) and he was charming and funny.

Do you remember the shout out he gave to Holy Cross at the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival? Great that he recognized Alma Mater. It was a fun evening at a beautiful venue. Billy Collins is a national treasure along with the Good Doctor. With the opening of the Prior Center next year, consider should be made in establishing the Mt. St.James Poetry Festival.

BC Definitely agree, but better to use his name

Haha, I see what you mean. Using "BC" is a bit triggering for many of us.

It was interesting to learn that he was on the staff of "The Purple" and in that capacity, got to have lunch with Robert Frost.
