To assume that people that want to wait before opening campuses and gyms are like your neighbor is also silly Ray says he’s not relevant to this discussion. “Erring on the safe side” and “abundance of caution” mantras can certainly be taken to the extreme regarding Covid Beyond that, those who want to wait till Covid is completely gone from US soil and/or the odds of catching it are zero (not suggesting or assuming you are in that group) before attending outdoor games certainly have the option of not attending. I think we’ll see fans (perhaps socially distanced) permitted at Fitton in the fall.

A difference between the beach club and HC Athletics is the main purpose of the beach club (members using the beach and dock) can not be achieved with the beach and dock closed. The main purpose of HC Athletics (student athletes playing students from other colleges) can be achieved even if the stands are closed to spectators.
So a decision to close the beach club may be irrational while a decision to close HC games to spectators may be rational.

Just because one is "rational", that does not mean that he/she is correct. You can have a rational opinion that is wrong. Winston Churchill: "It is a fine thing to be honest, but it is also very important to be right."

Joshua-You literally ask this question every couple of weeks. Nothing has changed. This has nothing to do with Holy Cross. Indoor gatherings at sporting events are not allowed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until Phase 4 which is months away. You can ask the question next week and again on Feb 1, and nothing will have changed. If the Patriots and Celtics are not playing in front of fans, Holy Cross isn't. Period.

I don't think anyone is questioning that there will be no fans at basketball games. It's the events (outdoor) after that that's being debated.
Phase 4 in Mass. said there would be a vaccine or effective (from diagnosis, not hospitalization) treatment. That ought to be second quarter 2021 in terms of how many have received it.
Off topic- maybe some of these pro teams should start giving freebies to vaccinated essential workers, start getting (safe) fannies in the stands. Wouldn't that be a win for all involved?

Effective Saturday for two weeks* Gov Baker has tightened 'performance venues' [and other business] to 25%** of capacity.
This will put Hart Center's bball court at 880 & hockey rink at 400. BU Case Gym at 500
*in effect at least until Jan 10. ** restaurants & salons staff don't count in the 25%
