Has anyone heard anything about a spring football season and do you think fans would be allowed

Yes, in many of your previous posts asking exactly the same thing. I am sure that once someone on Crossports knows something definite, it will be posted here. If you haven't yet seen any definite word it may simply be because there is nothing yet to see. Patience.

My understanding was even though no final decision yet, the plans are for spring football with what I will call a "non-traditional schedule."
So, whether they play the games or not will help determine if there are fans. The PL has been very cautious and if there are games, my best guess is they will wait until the last minute in order to have the most up-to-date medical info (i.e. have people been widely vaccinated; has the cases curve been bent significantly downward in Massachusetts; the Worcester caseload/hospitalization/death count down; rules in place for mandatory mask usage; seating marked to force required physical distancing, etc.).
I'd put the chances of games played (a shorter schedule) at 60%-70% and, if played, perhaps allow 5% fan attendance (1,100 +/-) with the chance of that happening about 25%.

What would the betting line be that there will be a Spring Season?
+1600? Higher/Lower?
Where would you put the odds?

My understanding is that Coach Chesney is addressing the team via Zoom at 6:30PM tonight. Hopefully he has some positive news to share with the players about their return to campus and a spring football season. Fingers crossed...

I've been told the kids are returning to campus Jan. 4th. Beyond that I'm not sure on a season.

Also hearing that Georgetown is out in the spring, leaving the remaining 6 to perhaps play with a North Division (HC, Fordham and Colgate) and South Division (Lehigh, Lafayette and Bucknell). Winners of each division to meet for a conference championship game to determine PL champion and FCS playoff representative.

So it’s potentially a two game season?
What a dumb league.

Play each team twice, home and home ? 4 games, possibly more with playoffs.

AD Blossom has indicated if we play at all, the probability is playing some teams more than once. Believe 2020's post is accurate.
Here's a phonetic transcript of what he told the Classes of 1970/71 a couple of weeks ago in a special Zoom meeting:

Why not just have a five-game season with 6 teams? Seems simple enough. What's Georgetown's reason for not playing spring football? It's not like they cancelled winter sports over there. Hoya basketball has already received a full serving of Patriot League humble pie before heading into Big East play.

Not sure, but I believe Georgetown has a limited number of students due back in the spring based upon class year, so this may be the reason they decided to pull out due to a limited number of players coming back to campus. I agree this is not an ideal schedule, but at this point I guess we have to take what we can get.

North and South divisions are seen as enabling same day travel for games and little or no overnight stays. I believe this was something that the PL foreshadowed as being a necessary requirement in its earlier press releases.

Colgate and Fordham are typically overnights and require trivially less travel time by bus than Lehigh and Lafayette. Bucknell longest bus trip typically and Georgetown we usually fly but not always.

This is what the CAA us also doing - for example in their south division Richmond is playing home and home vs. W&M, James Madison and Elon - ends up with a 6 game schedule

Staying in a dorm / off-campus house is no more or less dangerous than staying overnight in a hotel. This is embarrassing.

Please just schedule some football games and play them. Please--I don't care who we play or where we play-just play some football.

What's Georgetown's reason for not playing spring football? It's not like they cancelled winter sports over there. Hoya basketball has already received a full serving of Patriot League humble pie before heading into Big East play. The only sports that are returning are the Big East scholarship teams: basketball, soccer, outdoor track, and lacrosse. All fall sports and winter sports other than basketball were cancelled. On campus living is restricted to 500 this spring which will be seniors. Freshman (class of 2024, that is) are expected to arrive for a summer term.

I’d love to see us try to schedule an OOC game or two. Bryant, Merrimack, CCSU and some other D1 schools are a bus ride away. Heck, I’d settle for a game against Assumption at this point. Let’s play!

With the coaching relationship you might be on to something about an Assumption game. No upside for HC except a little more experience for the younger players.

Time to leave the Patriot League. I keep seeing most of our long time opponents playing basketball while we sit back and do nothing.
