When one does not play an opponent it is easy got predict they would crush that opponent.

One could make the case that an ACC schedule such as ND played does not include more than one true quality opponent (Clemson), and hence your SoS is 42nd nationally. A 3-loss UNC team that lost to FL State and UVA doesn’t count in my book.

Truly a long pass from discussion of Holy Cross or even the Patriot League football. Pretty happy that I am on the sidelines here as opinions seem pretty entrenched. Like watching a WWF match (is that even the right term? I'm not into Vince McMahon's "sports entertainment").

A lot of it is likely still based on pre-season power rankings. Obviously, the SEC didn't all of a sudden become a weaker conference than the ACC or Big Ten this season but with each conference basically playing in a vacuum, there's very little to base strength of schedule on. Within conferences, because of COVID cancellations, obviously some teams played harder schedules than others depending on which games got cancelled. But very hard to compare SOS between teams in different leagues. This is why, IMO, there should have been an expanded playoff to put a lot of those arguments to bed this year. It's difficult enough most years determining the Top 4 (or previously top 2) with entire non-conference resumes to look at -- even more challenging this year.

The teams have been announced and ND is in at #4. I propose that it and The OSU play a third place game to test ACTP's prognostication.

Indiana gets rewarded for their best season in a long time w/a matchup with Ole Miss*, who has a losing record.
Army was going to go to the Independence Bowl, but it's been canceled. Right now, the 9-2 Cadets are staying home; although they've stated they'll happily replace any team that can't go to the post because of Covid issues.
* the worst has to be 3-9 South Carolina, their head coach long since fired; going to a bowl game.
