Great! What about the other games...PLN, ESPN+? A quick search seems to give no indication of the streaming plans

I swas thinking the game was next week not in January...although it clearly shows the correct date. I guess I am far too anxious to see HC hoops again.

I haver been spoiled by free streaming of PL games. Do we pay for the HC games by the game or can we pay a set monthly or seasonal rate?

Speaking of ESPN+, has anyone been watching it through your TV? I've had it for a couple of years, but have always watched through my computer. I tried to pick it up on my TV the other day (Xfinity, Vizio tv) without luck (I am able to get ESPN3). Using voice command just brought me to archived programs, nothing live. Thanks, Luddite

If your TV doesn't show the espn+ app, get a streaming device like Roku, cheap and very user friendly

Dave,
Might need to log into ESPN+ thru your TV.
First, make sure the TV is connected to your WiFi. Usually click menu on your TV remote and look for settings and WiFi. then connect it just like you do your TV.
Then, if you see the ESPN+ icon on your TV, open it, then log in just just like you do on a computer.

What impact will these changes to ESPN+ & CBS Sports have on viewership by alums? Will there be increased viewership by the general public? Will there be increased national visibility & branding? If fewer alums watch HC sports will this have a negative effect on alum giving? If so, will the increased revenue from ESPN & CBS more than offset any decrease in alum giving? Could it have been arranged that that a connection to HC Sports through ESPN & CBS could have been set up on the school's athletics website - an HC Sports Pass? I assume TPTB at HC & on this board know more than I. For some of us, connecting to ESPN+($5.99 mthly & CBS Sports) is not an acceptable option for a variety of reasons not necessarily financial. Some simply resent being played by ESPN, hooked to a subscription for a service one simply does not need. I realize if you want to watch HC Sports, you're going to have to pay the freight. I am gonna' miss the intimacy of watching HC b-ball & f-ball on the HC website, especially during this period of sheltering at home. This change will impact my ties to the school. HC will once again become more distant, more remote, more of an afterthought(?)

Mm67...if you've been watching, you probably know the quality of the PLN telecasts has been spotty. Hopefully ESPN+ fixes this, and watching on TV will be a big improvement. Worth it IMO

HC will once again become more distant, more remote, more of an afterthought(?) 67, Not quite understanding why this change will impact your ties to the school? Please explain..... The decision was made by the Patriot League for broadcast rights for all league members, it was not a unilateral Holy Cross decision. When the PL TV package was switched to Stadium, three years ago, ( April 13, 2017) when Campus Insiders was sold by IMG.& Silver Chalice to Sinclair, there was a significant degradation of the service and quality. Often broadcast were not archived in a timely basis for review. If a game was broadcast, the content often was not available for several days. That will not happen with ESPN, where the archived content is available immediately. While there is a cost of 5.99 a month, it can be cancelled at any time. Not really that expensive if you keep the service for only four or five months. The fee also allows access to games outside the Patriot League including MAAC games also broadcast on the ESPN+ side. Content broadcast on ESPN3 is available without an additional fee beyond your normal cable fee.

FWIW, the school produces the games themselves. Stadium / ESPN is not sending a production team out to PL campuses for these games. If there are issues with the broadcast, the school is likely to blame.

We "snowbird" in the Caribbean, Nov. - April. We were able to access the HC games on the HC website on my laptop overseas. Unfortunately, my ROKU/Hulu/AppleTV is not available in Barbados. I will miss the games and it will hurt. However, my hope is that I will be able to view post game videos on the HC website. As a 50+ year contributor, no need to worry about my unrequited love. Thanks again. mm PS Presently we are stuck, sheltering in NY for the first winter in 10+ years. Too cold...

Not sure why you won't be able to access ESPN+ on your laptop. I watched games on that network last year on a laptop while in Puerto Rico.

The issues I referenced were systemic within Stadium and not at Holy Cross. When Stadium began broadcasting PL football games in September of 2017, there were issues with their servers being sufficiently sized by Sinclair Broadcasting to handle content in their digital networks. There was extreme latency and buffering of the content. They also had issues with sufficient server space to handle archived content. Look at the Bucknell Board. Several posters complained about the Stadium quality and their App which for a time was discounted as a vehicle to directly access content. Would be interesting to hear Bison provide his comments regarding the Bucknell experience with Stadium. boards.basketball-u.com/showtopic.php?tid/23291/boards.basketball-u.com/showtopic.php?tid/24697/

Couldnt get anything in Canada Im used to sports-wise. Probably the same in the Caribbean except in PR and VI As a PSA, you can use a tool called a VPN to make it look like you're accessing the internet from the United States, even when in other countries. This will bypass the region-lock on most streaming services. For example, I'm currently using a VPN so it will look like I'm accessing the internet in NY, but with a couple button clicks I can make it look like I'm accessing the internet from South Korea. Disclaimer, I live in neither location. If you want to learn more about what a VPN is and some good ones to use, I'd be glad to discuss privately so as to not clutter the board.
