I've been a diehard Celtics fan since the 60's and saw K.C. Jones play in person a number of times. He was one of those unassuming glue guys that are essential to any team winning a championship.

K.C. was my favorite player when I was very young. R.I.P.

He had a commercial which was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, but pretty much summed up his coaching style: 1) Hit The Boards 2) Play The Tough D 3) Look For Larry!
It worked, 2 titles and I would have loved to have played the 87 Lakers with a healthier team (they lost in 6 games).

I met KC once. I had interacted with Larry Moulter, who was in charge of the building of, or perhaps just the marketing of the new Boston Garden, the Fleet Center. His Assistant sent me an invite with an all access credential to the celebration of the last night in the Old Garden. There was a reception in the Boards and Blades(?) Club and I stood between KC and Jeremy Jacobs the owner of the Bruins and the Garden listening to the speakers. I was more excited to be standing next to one of the fabled Jones Boys than a Billionaire. I don't recall having the courage to say anything but it was still a thrill.
