Might as well start this now, it's inevitable that Gilmore is done.
I would think that there are a lot of good candidates out there....thoughts?

Mark Duffner. At 63 years old he might be interested in resurrecting the program that he had so much success with before retiring ..... A Carmody like hire if he could be convinced to leave the NFL

Not going to happen, but one of my non HC brothers said that Brian Kelly would be a good choice....it does kind of make some sense....very, very unlikely though, but who knows?

A Carmody like hire if he could be convinced to leave the NFL Although this 2012 story from the T&G doesn't have it, I seem to recall a quote attributed to him that it would be nice to finish his career back at HC. www.telegram.com/article/20121223/NEWS/112239911

Put down the crack pipe. lol....I did say it was unlikely....it does kind of make sense though, you know his days at ND are numbered and he does have Mass/HC/Woo roots.... Lee Hull is a great call imo.....

This sucks. But, it's clearly time for a new direction here.
What about Mike Sanford? He's a young guy at ND, brilliant offensive mind...may have his sights set on something bigger than HC.

Brian Kelly went to the national championship a few years ago and a major bowl game last year; his job isn't in jeopardy.

Didn't ND give him a long term extension? They did....clearly not happening without some divine intervention.....Sanford? He's been around the track....now at Indiana St.....I'd take Hull or Duff ovah him in a heart-beat. It's a tough call....need some "new blood" but HC really doesn't have any "new blood" in the pipeline as we've been mostly bad during the PL era.

Indianhoop, was referring to the younger Sanford (OC at ND).

I don't think we're landing Lee Hull. Only slightly more likely than Kelly... 1% vs. 0%.
Guy just left Morgan St. for a job in pro ball, which he called "a lifelong dream" here (http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/bal-morgan-state-football-coach-lee-hull-leaving-for-assistant-job-with-indianapolis-colts-20160208-story.html). He's going to give up on that dream after one season?
Now, the Colts staff could well get fired after this year, which might change the calculus. That's your only chance.
With that, I'm going to bow out of this parlor game for a while. There will be plenty of time for this down the road. Just couldn't stand by without bursting a few bubbles here.

Anyone who thinks NP would consider anyone with HC ties hasn't been paying attention.

Lee Hull:
Colts staff will be fired Does he have enough in roads in NFL to stay? Did he cross paths with NP at MD or OSU? Married a Woo girl Alum Checks a diversity box (are all our head coaches white? I have no idea)

And to that I say, who the hell is Nate Pine? He should have fired Gilmore two years ago.....the Pine love here is a little ovah the top imo....have HC athletics (on the playing fields) really improved that much undah his tutelage?

Also, the new HC at HC is going to have to play Navy, who just beat #6 Houston.

Wouldn't the OC at Notre Dame be making at least double what the HC job at HC pays?

Delusional to think a BCS coordinator would take a PL head job. Let Fordham serve as an example: their HC just left or an OC job at a school where the Head Coach's job is not exactly the most stable, and they turned around and hired a 31 year-old from their own staff. Fordham has had a much better track record than HC the last handful of years and is in a much more desirable location.

That's a good point. Find a diamond in the rough D2 up and comer may be what we have to do.

Asking this question is roughly as embarrassing as your "ovah" schtick. Or were you in a coma last March?
