Anyone hearing anything about the upcoming softball season or spring sports in general?

I think they are planning on playing, at least based on a fund raising email I got on 12/23 which reads in part: Greetings Holy Cross Softball Friends, Families, and alumni —
"Happy Holidays from the Softball office! Things are especially quiet around campus since those student-athletes that had access went home. We are enjoying watching our hockey programs compete from afar and look forward to the start of the basketball season.
The buzz and excitement for the spring is loud and clear around the athletic department. We are prepping and planning to make sure we can have the best spring possible. Spring may look a little different this year with travel being limited, but we are still here to compete and win championships, and with a more grateful heart than we have ever had before! ..."

Very Nice. I have been an advocate for baseball and softball to skip the southern trip and play an extended season when New England weather is perfect for playing and watching these sports, even after classes have ended. If the PL took this approach the tourney could be held in time for the winner to play in the NCAA tournament while the rest of the league continued playing on firm natural grass in historic playing venues with the season winding up in time for collegiate summer ball participation.
Responses have indicated this is pie in the sky and unworkable, but maybe many things will be re-evaluated after Covid. Without the expense of Southern trips and then returning home to start the season in cold and muddy conditions, schools like Colgate, BU, UVM, Providence might reinitiate baseball. Colgate is only forty miles from Cooperstown and they no longer play baseball.

Colgate is only forty miles from Cooperstown and they no longer play baseball. At many of those schools you mention, Title IX might be a strong consideration. All four of those schools play men's lacrosse with at least some scholarship support - they're telling you what sport they've prioritized. IMO, it's going to take a lot more than adjusting when the season starts and how late it can go to convince those schools to reinstate baseball.

Title IX sinks the national pastime. But lacrosse is a faster game so maybe schools are giving the kids what they want.

This looks to be about a dozen members of HC's softball team at the Luth this fall. All, or nearly all, were living off-campus.
