Having taken some Latin in high school and a little at HC I read the story about Fr. Foster with admiration. Anyone who can converse, tweet, and tell off-color jokes in Latin is my kind of guy.

thank you for posting the link. I have copied the text in the event anyone can't read it because of paywall issues.. Certainly, a one-of-a-kind individual.

I went to St. John's Prep in Danvers. At the time everyone took Latin. My teacher was Mr. Sheehan. Because of his ruddy complexion he was nicknamed "Pinky". After one particularly tough test one student quipped "Pinkus es Dinkus". A little sophomoric humor to start the week.
