Damn good win for HC today, and shows that what Nelson has been preaching about building a culture of competitiveness and toughness in the program isn’t just lip service. 4th game in 7 days, bad loss yesterday, 3 hour bus ride this morning, down into the second half, then find another gear and basically win going away.
I am very excited about the potential of this program with RJ, Bo, and Bubba as the core of the backcourt. Their play at both ends of the floor fueled the comeback in the 2nd half.
I have been impressed with how Butler has adjusted to being around better players and is letting things come to him rather than forcing the issue, which used to get him in trouble.
Wade is reminding me a bit of Greg Kinsey with a 3 point shot. Probably not a super star, but a very steady hand who can be trusted to make smart plays, play good defense, and make the other guys on the floor better. IMO, Bo, Bubba, and Martindale have a higher ceiling, but there will always be minutes for Wade if he keeps playing and improving like he has this year (a la Kinsey with Hamilton & Simmons).
Long way to go, but we are way ahead of schedule through these first four games in year two of this rebuild, especially given the impact of COVID. I am hoping this says a lot about how effective Nelson & his staff can be running practices and preparing the team, because it’s been very impressive to see both the level of improvement from the returners and a bunch of newcomers who are ready for key minutes right away.

I'll double down on my comments after the first Army game about Austin's free throw shooting performance this season: it's an anomaly, like flipping a coin 8 times and it comes up tails every time. There's nothing wrong with the coin--it was just an anomaly. AB's end of season FT percentage will be just fine. Just as he won't shoot .632 on threes for the season, he won't shoot .100 on free throws either. He's flirting with the "yips" that Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester suffered when he tried to throw to first to hold a runner on.

Small sample size, but a 39.5% on 3PT would be the highest mark this century and -- I'd venture to guess -- the highest in program history. This percentage is tops in the PL and 16th nationally (as of 7PM ET tonight). Holy Cross- Top 3 point shooting percentage for a season Single Season:
.468 (158-337), 1987-1988
.448 (181-404), 1989-1990
.418 (161-385), 1990-1991Note that the 3 point line was 19’9” in those years. Now it is about 22’2”.

Here's a couple of Austin Butler statistical tidbits:
He has moved up from tied for #45 in all-time scoring to #37 . Even with a shortened season he could crack the top 25 . Of course, I know that winning games is what counts but I think it's nice to recognize his career accomplishments.
Austin has cracked the top 10 in three pointers made and is, in fact, in 7th place now.

Yesterday was a very pleasant surprise. After Saturday’s pretty thorough defeat, I was expecting a repeat performance. The team could have easily folded when they found themselves down ten in the second half.

How about Matt Faw with a career high four steals yesterday. That was impressive.

Was unable to watch the game live and was hoping to watch the replay today but getting "We're sorry, an unexpected error has occurred" message on ESPN+. Anyone else seeing this or is s just my issue?

I got that for a while on my tv, but. it then asked me to sign in again, told me that my information was incorrect and finally simply started the program.

Was unavailable to tune in yesterday, but this is a great surprise. 2-2 against the "iron" of the PL North is quite nice. Given the lack of experience on this team, we may have more room for growth than a lot of other teams. And the long-term future looks very bright. On to Gate!

Yesterday was a very pleasant surprise. After Saturday’s pretty thorough defeat, I was expecting a repeat performance. The team could have easily folded when they found themselves down ten in the second half. I turned it on late, was watching it on my smart tv and the women's game on my laptop. The first 15 minutes I had them on, the ladies went on a roll to break open a close game; but the men's game went in the other direction. A repeat of Saturday, much to their credit that midway through the second half, they turned it around completely! BU was in a similar boat w/Colgate and mailed in the rest of the game, got embarrassed down the stretch.
