Possible but still need to coach the talent
In fairness to Nelson maybe these new recruits finally fit his approach
Whatever that might be

Wow—/ would be great if this were anywhere near accurate 1 When they say "recruiting class", they clearly are including transfers. Not only for HC but also for Lafayette (van der Baan and TJ Berger) and Bucknell (Jack Forrest). 2. Based on what I've seen in the past, Major Madness spends very little time following the PL. 3. FWIW, their prediction for the PL top four is Colgate, Boston U, Army, and American. They are also surprisingly high on Loyola.

Do you think Major Madness could actually name who all our incoming recruits are?

Probably not.

HC didn’t make local product TJ Power’s final five. BC, Duke, UNC, UVA and Iowa.

Well in terms of quantity, HC has to be right up there for newcomers: Octave Tse Wilbar Batchelder Kirkwood If the Major Madness guy looked into it at all (I'll take Bison's word that he doesn't), he might be considering that 2 guys are coming down from higher rated conferences, and one frosh (Batch) was highly ranked in NE preps. Don't know if anyone has ever mentioned this site before, but I tend to look at Bart Torvik's - only because I am simple, and can easily use his filters to see his rankings by team and conference. He also has a projected production section where you can filter on teams or leagues to at least see who has what coming back, although for HC he has one rather glaring omission: GG. Again, no clue on his reputation or how to interpret the projections. barttorvik.com/

I think NAD might have inadvertently hit the rationale - it's not quality, it's quantity. Between the transfers and new freshmen, we probably have the largest (i.e. "top") recruiting class in the league.

Do not know the site, but I am immediately skeptical.

Hoops
Some of these services give points - say we have all 2.stars and sign five- gives us 10 points
they know very little about the recruits if anything at all
with that said I welcome any positive news that is realistic for the basketball coach and the program.
This is unlikely to be realistic

HC has offered Tyler Perkins, a 6’4” guard from the Landon School in Bethesda MD. He has 15 offers including 6 PL and 4 Ivy.

Five of the twelve kids we have offered have also been “offered” by Brown. Four have also received an offer from W&M. It will be interesting to see how many of the targeted twelve matriculate to/at HC.

How many of this group will they get to visit the campus?

How many of this group will they get to visit the campus? One that won’t be is Drew Schranowski. He has committed to Belmont.

Again, very hard to envision any kid with other good options committing to HC before we either: a) start winning or b) change coaches. Other than Batchelder who committed a couple of years ago and is local, none of the other 4 new players on the roster appear to have had a lot of other good options. That doesn’t mean they won’t be good players for us. But it does suggest we’re not winning many recruiting battles given the current state of the program.

Joe Nugent from Tabor committed to HC.

Nugent played for the Middlesex Magic AAU program. Same for Batchelder. Anyone remember if Luc played for the Magic? It would be nice to develop a pipeline to a program that is generally as well-stocked with talent as the Magic.

I think Luc played for Mass Rivals, trimster, but I could not agree more about the Magic. They seem to churn out D-1 guys year after year.

Here is a name that may pop up on HC's radar down the road. Cedrick Semilien, a 6'1" class of '23 pg from St. Bernard's in Uncasville, CT. NERR gave him a shout out the other day. He was MVP of the Hoop Group Academic Elite Camp last week in PA. He doesn't show up on VC so he is probably lightly recruited. He might be a kid who benefits from a year of prep school a year from now. For you old timers like me, Uncasville might ring a bell as I believe it was where Corny Thompson played. According to Semilien's Twitter page, he has a 3.4 GPA.

Just read on NERR about Penn’s final Elite Camp of the summer which is held at the Palestra. Seven days spread out in the summer of six hours of instruction and games. $199.00 per camp. Does HC hoops have an Elite Camp?
