A chant heard when the game was well in hand: "Hammer, Sickle, Monkey Wrench....Bring in Snapper From the Bench!" Thanks efg and Tim. HC was in a holiday tournament down south and me and a couple of friends picked up a Carolina station, I think it was vs Mississippi, and the commentator is watching the teams run out for layups pregame. He says, "whoa, look at this guy number 52 (?), He looks like he could pick up one end of the Colosseum by himself".

Thanks for the clarification. Thought it was some kind of nostalgia for a player in Jack Donahue's penultimate recruiting class (Mapp, Malcolm Moulton, John Budris, Jim Maley). IIRC he was from Brockton and locals who had seen him play in high school felt him getting a scholarship was a real head-scratcher. They turned out to be right, and I don't think the kid took advantage of the free education he was getting either. Mapp never played, maybe he was on the team in pre season; if he was around in October and November, he left no impression on me whatsoever, I just remember him playing freshman ball the year before. Stat sheet www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/holy-cross/1972.html shows he didn't play. With Kevin Stacom's departure, there certainly were minutes available; but he's not the guy that took them.

HC was still in the 617, still played Assumption and still played BC twice a year. "Yankee Conference" but really an Independent.

I have the vaguest of memories of Mapp but don't recall him playing on varsity. Can someone help me with losing letterman "John Kearney" not only don't I remember him on any team during my 4 years I don't remember him as a classmate. Was he a manager letterman that we lost?

Neil Ryan was in NAVY ROTC as I recall. I recall playing football against him a couple of times as he was the quarterback for one of the Healy intramural teams==pretty good passer.

I remember Neil Ryan. But I thought he played freshman bball, was always in class of 71, then lost a school year to hep, finished in 72 and made the team as a walk-on. I'm glad someone remembers Kearny and that he wasn't in my class because I still have zero recollection of him on the team. And he lettered,

According to a NERR tweet, two kids from Wilbraham and Monson Academy were on campus last weekend for an unofficial visit. Both are doing a post-grad year. Ryan Duncan, a 6’2” guard from Chicago and Tate Laczkowsi, a 6’10” forward from Dallas.

Keep those 6'10" visits coming (and perhaps a 6'12"?).

Wilbraham and Monson has had multiple open gyms this fall so I am guessing someone from the staff has been at one or more of them.

Is the AF xfer coming with 2 or 3 yrs of eligibility? Him at 3yrs with Batch and Nugent and if you got Che would give me some hope.

I hear Octave is playing well, could be the new leader of the team and yes, he can play multiple positions.
Not as many positive or negative comments about the other transfers. That leaves us with Gates, Dorsey, Octave, Montgomery, Batchelder, Kenney, and Coulibaly, while we wait and see how Rabs, Lewis, Wilbar, Kirkwood, and Tse continue to develop.
Fingers crossed as practice gets started.
