NU is ascendant at the moment. NU focused on changes that positively affected the U.S. News scoring and rankings. See article below. All credit to them -- I think their strategy enabled them to attract higher caliber students. NORTHEASTERN’S RISE IN THE U.S. NEWS COLLEGE RANKINGSInteresting that this article was written in 2014.

I have said earlier he is burned out and will end up at UM and not play. He played for his dad, knows what good coaching might look like in his eyes, and losing was very painful—this is only an opinion not based on facts but having a son who made that decision many years ago

Cheaper than joining a gym. I talked to a 60-ish woman friend today. She works at Amazon four hours a night for the shift differential rate of $22.50/hr. which she calls her paid workout. And she's a Muslim with full regalia no matter how hot it is or what she's doing.

So EFG based on your theory a marginal player who was playing 25mpg is burnt out and doesn't want to play competitive ball any longer because the team is losing and he was disenchanted with the coaching staff that was playing him 25mpg. Most guys get disenchanted when they don't get playing time but since he hasn't surfaced anywhere at this late date maybe you're on to something.

Most guys get disenchanted when they don't get playing time . . . Ryan's brother, Brandon, played nine minutes a game as a freshman for a winning Duquesne team . . . then decided to become a walk-on at Michigan.
Maybe they would just prefer to stay in Ann Arbor, for whatever reason.

Are you really inferring that Wade’s dad, an AAU and assistant high school coach, is a better coach than Brett Nelson? I don’t know exactlywhy Wade left, but I’d be willing to bet it had something to do with seeing his wing minutes disappear to guys like Bo, Bubba, Martindale Luc, Dorsey, and Kenny who all appear to have a significantly higher ceilings than him.

As a shooting guard, he wasn't a great shooter, but he didn't take crazy shots like Marcus Smart of the Celtics. He played defense and had his head in the game. No one can complain about what he gave to HCBB, including the last two years of his scholarship.

I said in his eyes….
hypothetically He played many years for his dad and my guess is his dad used him in a way to play to his strengths and Ryan loved playing with his friends, for his dad and winning games. To him and most kids that is a combination that works, Those kids/coaches stay in touch and feel great about the experience. But then again that is speculation on my part as I never coached against his dad or watched him coach.
Btw It was not a comment on Nelson, who might prove to be a decent or even a very good college coach….however the clock is ticking for him to deliver results.

Most guys get disenchanted when they don't get playing time but since he hasn't surfaced anywhere at this late date maybe you're on to something. For many that is important and especially so if you are talented player who dreams of playing at the next level. For that marginal player you still practice and play 6 games every weekend in the fall, spring and summer, play for your school team, and perhaps other sports, try to have friendships and a social life growing up, be a good student and spend time with your family —at some point you realize you are a machine. Sometimes you continue to play in college for the love of the game, you feel obligated to continue because it is all you know, to make your parents happy, or because you have a college scholarship. Those kids that have the courage to walk away are special and should be applauded and not questioned or criticized. Kids need the opportunity to be kids/young adults so they get to know who they are. I am 70 and still trying to answer certain questions. in the case of Ryan and his brother, being closer to home and being around family might be more important than playing a game. Given Coach Wade’ transplant and recovery it might be wise and healthy to find a reason to be around your dad/mom and family. but I am a 70 year old and don’t know too much so please feel free to disagree.

I didn't know about the family illness. Your points make perfect sense now. An HC degree instead of a Michigan Degree and being a contributor to a second division PL team do not outweigh being close to a family member with health issues.
I was once in a Service Organization. The (volunteer) work load was getting draining and I had illness in the family so I decided to quit. A long time member told me that if I quit I would always regret it. But I would have regretted it if I didn't.

Any time illness gets involved it get very tricky. If that's the case I fully understand.
But the part I don't understand is where is the parent's say in this. Yes, they definitely have a say. Because they are the ones who paid for the lessons, AAU, the flights, the hotel rooms for the kids on this journey.
To turn down a 4 year degree at a college/university to not play and pay their full weight happens wayyyy to much these days. Yah - I get it - you want the kids to be happy - and that is certainly very important. But for my money it seems way too easy these days to throw the free degree away because it wasn't as easy as they would like.
Go back to the Cuonzo Martin video. His mother cared about him attending classes and is he reading the Bible. I also get that not every kid is cut from the same cloth. But from my standpoint with a soon to be 10th, 8th, and 6th grader - too many kids are the ones that are driving the bus. Every now and then the parents should be driving that bus and the kids should get in the back seat and take a break because in many cases the parents know the best way to get to the desired location with a little mental toughness along the way.
I'm speaking in generalities here - I have no idea what Ryan Wade's situation is; this is general commentary on the poor state of affairs in the NCAA these days with the ease of transfers and poor decisions that I see every day.

Lots of speculation here. Not much fact
We have some great detectives here who figured out that cousin Drew is going Juco next year old friend Ciaran Sandy transferred from some community college to some D-II college. I have to believe that if our detectives can come up with this kind of information on low level basketball, they'll figure out where Ryan lands when and if he does. Whether he left for burnout, to be closer to family, or the writing on the wall, it's a pretty safe guess that he will not be playing any college ball this fall

I don't know that is just a sports thing. I see 20 and 30 something kids changing jobs every couple of years. When I wonder aloud about it, my older kids think I am crazy. They tell me that it is the only way to advance and that nobody thinks it is odd. Remember when linkedin was first created. If I am recalling correctly, it had a place where members could list why they were on the site and it included that they were looking for new opportunities. I was horrified that employed people would say that publically, but I now know that this is not considered problematic. Transferring without having to sit out makes a college player as portable as a 401k.

I personally don't see it that way. I think changing schools/programs is much different than changing jobs when I see a student athlete forego a 4 year free education to go to a lesser school in hopes of finding that dream, only to find out they are now either not playing or playing at a JUCO. I would believe when people make a jump to a different job it's an educated guess that it will lead to more money and opportunity. The only similarity I find is the player might think moving schools provides them more opportunity to play but in my personal opinion it doesn't result in a better decision for the player in the long term regarding the most important part - their education.
Again - just my opinions on what exists in today's world and the lack of guidance regarding a very important decision. This in no way reflects on the Wade decision they made as a family, but I see this all too often with players at these schools.
Again - just my opinions here which are welcome on this board. Opinions by definition aren't wrong or right.

Transferring without having to sit out makes a college player as portable as a 401k. I interviewed a relatively young person for a job yesterday and I was amazed at her openness re: her sole focus being to continue to move herself up the corporate ladder. She left me with little doubt she’d start looking for her next job shortly after she started this one. She made little effort to tell me how she was going to help me or my company but was very clear about how my job was going to help her.

Now, if the next 4-5 young people you interviewed had the same attitude, I'm guessing you've got yourself a real problem. Good luck!
P.S. Glad I'm retired as hiring and promoting people was something I did for many years but life was simpler then.

Did some quick checking.
Nothing on Wade's twitter or instagram, but it does seem like the Chippewas have open scholarship room
The school's webpage still has last year's roster up (They're not on top of that stuff like HC) so nothing to be inferred from that.
As kids in general are heading to college and having heard nothing about Wade, I was beginning to think he would be homeless for the season

If true would seem to fly in the face of the theory that he was burned out and sick of losing, Central Michigan was 6-17 overall and 3-13 in league last year.
