One player not yet mentioned is Lincoln Yeutter. I recall thinking that he had some talent and could contribute at HC. So I thought he might thrive in D-3--can't tell yet as Johns Hopkins has not played any games and maybe the season is cancelled?

Grandison playing meaningful minutes tonight vs Iowa.
8 pts / 10 boards
Tied with 4 min to go.
Good game.
I like these Friday night Big10 matchups.

He looks good
Has talent but with HC I always felt he took way too many minutes off and would hide from the action. Could just be the level of play and two more years to mature

The Centennial Conference took the Ivy/NESCAC route and cancelled all fall and winter sports, so JHU will not be playing this year.

Grandison had the same skills at HC that he’s showing now. The difference is he’s much more focused and energized. He’s an excellent defender now and efficient on offense - very heady at both ends.

Bill Carmody West aka Air Force: 4-8 Avg margin of defeat: 19.5 points - only one loss decided by fewer than 17 points (11) Update: 4-12 Avg margin of defeat: 20.8 A bit of a good news/bad news situation from this weekend's sweep at the hand's of KenPom #320 San Jose St Bad News: lost both games Good News: finally able to get a margin of defeat into the single digits, losing game 1 by 1 point "WhAt DoEs ThIs HaVe To Do WiTh HoLy CrOsS???"This just sheds some additional light on how ill-equipped the Princeton system of the 90s is for college basketball today, and how heavy of a lift it was going to be for Brett Nelson to completely overhaul the HC program after 4 years of this crap.

Connor Niego became eligible in Jan and is starting for (D.2) Lewis U - he's listed as a junior and is averaging 29 min/game and 10 pts/game. I'm still fascinated by his decision to leave and not get an HC degree (and then play a grad transfer season elsewhere) - he must have had some serious personal reasons

And one of Carmody's recruits is now leading the Patriot League in rebounds, so questioning the man's philosophy is quite legitimate.

Grandison got mentioned in an ESPN+ article today.
Win of the Week: Illinois Fighting Illini 80, Iowa Hawkeyes 75
Several strong candidates emerged for this category over the weekend, but something about Illinois' win over Iowa stood out. The standalone window on a Friday night, Ayo Dosunmu and Luka Garza trading buckets in the first half, the clutch shooting late from the Fighting Illini -- even the bizarre goaltending/non-goaltending call that took two points away from the Hawkeyes. It was one of the best games of the Big Ten season.
More importantly for this honor, it was a heck of a win for Illinois. The Fighting Illini have had some issues with consistency this season, and despite their talent and slew of decent wins, they lacked a marquee win. Beating Iowa ticks that box. It's also a win that showed why people are so high on Illinois moving forward. Dosunmu was terrific and Kofi Cockburn was great in the second half, but Brad Underwood also got tremendous production from the supporting cast.
play 0:16 Frazier shrugs after his heave goes in for IllinoisTrent Frazier beats the shot clock with a prayer late in the first half and shrugs after it goes in. Trent Frazier had 24 points, including several timely 3s; Jacob Grandison had 11 points and 10 rebounds in only his second start of the season; and Andre Curbelo, despite some late turnovers, finished with eight points and eight assists, providing a great spark in the first half.

This just sheds some additional light on how ill-equipped the Princeton system of the 90s is for college basketball today, and how heavy of a lift it was going to be for Brett Nelson to completely overhaul the HC program after 4 years of this crap. That "ill-equipped system" got us both a berth in the NCAA and a First Four win.
Just sayin'......

The pull of the family connection to Lewis must have been very strong He's third generation at Lewis if I remember correctly. He's listed as a junior but could graduate this Spring. Lewis University is Roman Catholic and Lasallian with 22 graduate programs, so he could get his free year of graduate school there.

Former Holy Cross guard Joe Pridgen is making his presence known at UNCW Jennifer Toland Telegram & Gazette
UNCW's Joe Pridgen drives to the basket against Delaware at Trask Coliseum in Wilmington, N.C., Saturday, January 23, 2021. [MATT BORN/STARNEWS] Joe Pridgen expected to be sitting out this season after transferring to the University of North Carolina-Wilmington from Holy Cross, where he had an outstanding freshman year, but the NCAA’s blanket waiver, announced in December, allowed transfers to play immediately in 2020-21, and Pridgen has had an instant impact on his new team.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Pridgen is averaging 11.3 points on 55 percent shooting and a team-best 8.4 rebounds. He has made 11 starts, posted five double-doubles and scored a season-high 19 points in a win over Norfolk State in December.
“I think it’s been a good teaching experience,” Pridgen said during a phone interview Tuesday morning. “I came in thinking I was going to redshirt. Then I got thrown into the mix, and at that point, I just wanted to help any way possible, whether that be scoring, rebounding, whatever my coach needed me to do.
“Being able to make an impact kind of proved a lot to myself,” Pridgen said, “what I’m able to do and how far I can really take basketball.”
Pridgen, a Winchendon resident who played for Murdock High’s varsity team as an eighth grader before transferring to the Winchendon School for two years and then to Governor’s Academy, led Holy Cross in scoring (17.4 ppg), rebounding (6.8 rpg) and field goal percentage (55.8) during the Crusaders’ three-win 2019-20 season.
He started 29 of 30 games and scored in double figures 24 times. His 521 points were second most by a freshman in HC and Patriot League history.
Pridgen was the Patriot League and ECAC Rookie of the Year.
He entered the transfer portal last April and announced in May he would be heading to UNCW.
Pridgen saw the UNCW campus for the first time when he arrived in late August, but hasn’t had the chance to explore it much as all of his classes have been remote. Still, he is enjoying his new surroundings.

The Seahawks, who play in the Colonial Athletic Association, started 6-3 under first-year coach Takayo Siddle, but have dropped five of their last six. The program is currently paused due to COVID-19-related protocols. All of UNCW’s games this week were postponed as well as its Feb. 20-21 series at Northeastern.
UNCW guard Joe Pridgen passes against Hofstra at Trask Coliseum in Wilmington, N.C., Saturday, January 30, 2021. The teams return to Trask Coliseum at 1 p.m. Sunday. [MATT BORN/STARNEWS] “It’s been kind of hard,” Pridgen said of the disruptions, “but you just put your head down and try to get through it.”
Even though last season was difficult for Holy Cross, Pridgen said he has drawn from the experience.
“I feel like I learned more how to win,” Pridgen said. “Even though that sounds crazy coming from last year, but I learned how to win just by helping my team. Last year, being a freshman, I didn’t know what to expect. Once I got the spotlight put on me, I started putting a lot of pressure on myself, but this year, I kind of just let go, and I’ve just been focusing on how can I help the team, how can I make us better, how can I improve myself.”
Pridgen’s younger brother, Quentin, is having a standout season at Oakmont Regional. The junior shooting guard is averaging 21.2 points per game to lead Central Mass. Division 3.
“He put a lot of work in over the summer,” Pridgen said. “I’m excited to see where he goes over the next few years.”

Jen, There are some players who did not abandon the school that gave them scholarships worth over a quarter of a million dollars as well as deserting their teammates. They deserve to be written about. Not someone who plays in North Carolina.

Generally agree, but Joe is from Worcester County so a story about him would be of interest to one or two of the Telegram's remaining readers.

Torn on this one. As a Worcester native, I like to read about local guys making good wherever but, on the other hand, I am not fond of players from teams I support abandoning ship (I was rooting for KC). Happy for him but really wished he stayed at HC.
