Distances between cities --how are they calculated when listed on line or in a book? Is it from the center of one city to the center of the next, from the city limits of one to the other's city limits, from city hall to city hall? In the Worcester example above the 39 miles certainly begins where the sign is but where is the terminus? Not a vexing issue but one you can't help wonder about. Highway sign distances are measured from the sign to the closest address to geographical center. Sign on Shrewsbury St. at 39 miles is a straight shot down Rt. 9 to whatever location the DOT uses as the geographic center in BOS.

Have made many trips on the Mass Pike to HC. I always knew I was close when I saw the Worcester 45 sign. Until a few years ago when the sign suddenly read Worcester 52

Until a few years ago when the sign suddenly read Worcester 52 That's likely when the new interchange opened, which by utilizing from the west is actually a longer way in distance to the center of Worc than Pike to 290 east.

Anyways, why are we playing BU 6 times?

Simple. They are very close. No other PL team is anywhere near as close. Besides, two words: "Turnpike Trophy." (Sorry, couldn't help myself )

Close as in "you're in the 4 team division; you're the closest and we have no other option that works mathematically"? Because, as others pointed out, other pairs are the same or closer.

Maybe it's not so much close as geographic outlier. A quick check of American's 16 game schedule has them playing Loyola 6 times.

In 2 games, our opponent has scored 66 or fewer points. We are 2-0 in those games.
In 4 games, our opponent has scored 83 or more. We are 0-4 in those games.
So, I was thinking, let’s play some bleeping defense this weekend.

Another consideration: those wins came in two slower paced games

Wondering if this is the weekend we will see Louth make his first appearance? Would be nice to see Rabs back as well.

Dave, I agree on both your points. Might we even see a picture of Louth on the team site in an HC uniform? I hope so.

Mindful of the need for emergency scheduling even though the world is supposed to revolve around me, I'm finding this whole 6 days between games too long. I'm ready for tip off and anxious to see how the guys do in a game they might actually be favored in

Very sloppy and really inexcusable that the SID's office has still not updated the men's stats (as of a minute ago when I looked) - still only 4 game averages - WHY ? I looked at the women's page and their stats are updated through the 6 games played so far.

Made me look and you are correct. The only thing up to date is the record.
While I was on the site there was a nice photo of a mostly crowded Hart. I'm not sure, but best I can tell, there are exactly zero Crusaders who were on the team last year (never mind this season) in the photo. Cool to see a nice crowd. Tough they had to go back for the photo

The PDF version is updated through Saturday, so it shows five game stats. Take your choice.

Another consideration: those wins came in two slower paced games Per basketball-ref's advanced game logs, average pace in our four losses has been 76.5 possessions - in the two wins, 68.5. We've been more successful when we slow the pace at the defensive end, forcing opponents to use more clock.
