There are 11 games scheduled for Wednesday involving top 25 teams. So far 7 have been postponed because of Covid

Let's hope the PL is able to continue. Do you know if any of the HC athletes have started getting a vaccine?

The NBA is making overtures about getting its players vaccinated in exchange for a bunch of Public Service Announcements advocating getting vaccinated; apparently sparked by Kareem doing that.
A bit of an ethics question there (people largely in their 20s getting pushed ahead of others); perhaps recreate the Miller Lite commercials with retired athletes getting the vaccine instead of a cold one? Or maybe both!

In some states they are giving vaccine to prisoners ahead of many non-felons in the outside world. That is why I asked about athletes. I am in NJ and in this state, one never knows.

Agree, but there are plenty of ludicrous examples of people getting vaccines who really shouldn’t given the populations still waiting.

My wife is in her 70s (therefore a senior) and is a stroke survivor. She and I are in the top category (1b I believe). She has been unable to schedule the vaccine despite regular attempts for two weeks now. I got an appointment, but I was told it was probably a mistake. That is NJ for you.

Without getting into the merits of the groupings, prisoners are getting vaccinated in some places because they are considered a high risk group based on their living situation and inability to socially distance

I understand that argument and gthe need to protect COs as well. But, the same can be said of many seniors.

Fl. gives out the vaccine to those flying in from other States or Countries. From news reports NJ claims to only get 100,000 vaccines a week.I talked to friend from NJ who is 82 & a retired Vet. He has had no luck so far for him or his wife. For the first 6 months he claimed it was a hoax. Now that the second wave has hit & he lost a few friends he wants the vaccine

As I understand the numbers, NY has 7 million in the 1b cohort...over 65, teachers, service workers, etc. At the rate of receiving 250,000 vaccines a week, it would take about 7 months to finish 1b. Unless something changes, it's going to take a while

fz welcome to CROSSPORTS. I never believed this was a hoax and we have tried to follow every rule. No luck. Of course, with masks and social distance, the flu is down to virtually 0% this year, so there is that. One thing about signing up in NJ. Once you find an open appointment, you THEN need to type in personal information. While you are doing it, the appointment may be given away.

Once the policy for a state is set, they have no right to flat-out refuse it to eligible out-of-staters, it's a federal program.

Does this mean Butler and Faw can get it if they go to Florida?

Unless something changes, it's going to take a while If they were serious about the distribution, the vaccine sites would be open and operating 24/7. If my appointment were scheduled for 2:45am at Fenway Park, I'd be there at 2:30am just to be sure.

The problem is that the release of vaccine from the federal supplies has not been happening as needed. I heard a rumor that there is a recent change in leadership that will improve things!

News reports say that about 1/3 of the released vaccines have been used. We probably need to get more doses released, but we also need to do a better job of getting those released doses used

The NY Times has a vaccine tracker. www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/covid-19-vaccine-doses.htmlAs of yesterday, 36 million doses distributed, 16.5 million shots administered. State by state, shots as a percentage of doses distributed. ND 74% CT 56% NY 51% RI 46% NJ 48% MA 45% CA 37% AL 29% _______________ There have been 510,000 cases in prisons and jails, and 2,200 inmate and corrections officer deaths. Both Federal and state prison officials are releasing prisoners early to release density. Some of the releases are under court order, e.g., San quentin.

Most of the delays actually fall at the feet of Governors as distribution was never intended to be controlled by the feds. those governors that planned and prepared are moving forward. Those like CA, NY, and NJ seem to be struggling along with Illinois. Virginia, NC and Ohio are doing ok, Florida and Texas seem to be better off. Will be getting more data around mid-day tomorrow.

From daily Gov Cuomo email today
New York State is now averaging approximately 65,000 shots per day and we have administered 86 percent of the state's first-dose vaccine allocation from the federal government (excludes the federal Long Term Care Facility program).
