Boston U has already started ten different players, so it is hard to project who will start at two of the positions.

Lots to like about Bo. Nelson and staff did a really good recruiting job with the guards in this class. If the two Frosh bigs can develop into something, we’ll be in business.

...and what transfer may be waiting down the road?

...and what transfer may be waiting down the road? Bite your tongue! ! ! HC is currently one under the scholarship cap. Two seniors on the team and three kids signed for the fall. Next season's roster is full. No open spots for an incoming transfer, and after last season, I hope I never hear about an outgoing transfer ever again

Thanks for reminding me that transfers are a two-edged sword.

There were lots of questions a couple of months ago if the PL or anyone else would be able to finish the season. There have been hiccups like this, but nothing cancelled yet

Good excuse to tell BU to go back to America East where they belong. As a Central Mass HC fan is it about the only close league game to travel to. Bu hockey is rolling right now. 5-1.

Caught a fleeting glimpse of Holy Cross playing against B.U. in one of our earlier games this year on the CBS Boston local 11 PM news tonight announcing B.U.'s temporary suspension of athletics. Hey, I'm desperate for any HC basketball sightings.

Maybe BU should take Fauci’s advice and double mask.

For the most part, they wore their masks as "chin jocks" [my preference over "chin diapers" since it has a athletic theme]. Again, for the 1,000th time, if you are not going to wear a mask over BOTH your mouth and nose, don't bother. And really don't bother if it doesn't cover either. Seems to fall under the heading of 'The BU administration can demand we wear masks but they can't tell us how to wear them."
FWIW, despite efforts with the Turnpike Trophy, BU will never be Holy Cross' rival.

It was not the athletes that tested positive and thats why I can't understand why they won't play the games. What if they do test positive next week it makes no sense to cancel games if the team is healthy to play. The positive tests were students on campus.

They aren’t the only thing but they are certainly high on the list.

Good point, cib. These are not rivalries of the type we had for decades with Boston College, but they are rivals. Could Colgate be added as well (in both sports)?

True Rivalry is a two way street, across multiple programs where the entire week before competition is one of intensive and guttural disdain for the opposition. When was the last time someone marched to a campus to paint their rival mascot purple? Thinking of stories in front of the eagle at Bapst library. That tradition has long gone away.
Neither Harvard or Yale would consider HC a rival in either sport based on conversations with former Yale or Harvard players. Unfortunately, we are seen as a scheduling convenience due to relative proximity really, nothing more.
Fordham could be a rival due to institution traditions and overlap. But for them to be a rival, we would need to play them in multiple sports with both Football and Basketball being accentuate as part of Jesuit Spotlight games.
With Colgate, due to the long standing nature or play and league affiliation could be, but when was the last time either student or alumni body was amped leading up to the game against each other. Only when the league championship is involved in football.
Bucknell was fun when both teams were on top, but it was not a sustainable rivalry.
For a rivalry you need student overlap.
And you can forget the Turnpike Trophy.....

I would add American from the early turn of the century, to your Bucknell category. Since the early 80's, HC has been in leagues devoid of passionate rivalries from my longstanding HC point of view. I am still passionate about HC hoops but not because of who we have chosen to compete with when it comes to conferences.

Well said, Crusis. You have convinced me. I have to concede that HC has no current rivalries and that is sad. I remember the Purple (Golden) Eagle. It was epic (and expensive IIRC). I believe we even had intramural all-star teams compete right before the big game on Thanksgiving weekend every year. Losing that rivalry is sad. I doubt any of the current students know what sort of a kick it is to have such a rival and to see HC win the game (especially those who can't move themselves to walk up the hill for a home game). Can you think of ways to start something like that at HVC? Or, is it a lost cause?
