I believe that Penn State has not committed resources to hoops that their competition in the Big 10 has. Penn State paid Chambers 900k while Greg Marshall at Wichita State made 3.5 million which is 13th best in the country. Wichita State is a better job right now.... Good catch on Wichita. Just don't sell short what a place w/a 100,000 seat football stadium that is always filled can do (if they want to).

Even when they're somewhat competitive, BC's gym is empty except for a select few opponents (Duke, NC, SU, Lville). I don't think they miss the Big East in the other sports, but it put a damper on basketball.
And any big time non-leaguer's not coming to Conte, too small; PC excluded.

I know that is probably because of Gregg Marshall but still.

BC program was fine until Coen and Cooley left in 2006, it's pretty obvious Skinner relied heavily on them and wasn't able to sustain the loss of both at the same time. That staff had been together for a long time and losing them along with switching conferences was too much for Skinner to overcome. Lowell's HC Pat Duquette was on that staff till 2010. Current Navy Prep, former Ohio U and Bryant head coach Tim O'Shea was on that staff through 2001. Pretty good staff to have four D-1 head coaches on it as assistants.

Scott Spinelli, the BC interim HC, is a Leominster native..(Leominster is about 15 minutes north of Worcester)..

Wynston Tabbs suspended for the rest of the season for violating covid team rules. He has just entered the transfer portal per ESPN's College Basketball site.

Tabbs has been there 3 years, one was a medical redshirt.
He could be somewhere else 3 years more as this year was a freebie, right? Depending on the transfer rule upcoming, could play 3 more or sit one and play 2.
In any case, he'd be as old as some of the college hockey players, which is pretty friggin old!

A decided Central Mass flavor to BC now; two Worcester kids (both from the Langford clan), a Vander Baan from Northbridge and now Spinelli from Leominster.

Wichita's out of the coaching hiring derby; they promoted Marshall's top assistant, who was the interim head coach. He had a year to audition for the job and I guess they're happy w/the job he did.

Will Brown is leaving UAlbany. He had some great years but didn’t fare too well the last couple.
The record. Brown's career record at UAlbany was 20 games over .500 after taking over a program that was near rock bottom when he took over. The five America East championships should require no further explanation. He had nine seasons with 19 or more victories. A lot of schools would take that.

I heard the AD and Brown butted heads over the am ohhhh by of resources provided to the basketball program. He will land on his feet as he turned down the St. Bonaventure job a couple years ago.

Will is a fine person from great parents. I coached against his and his dad’s team many moons ago. He was a terrific student and player whose college hoops career was affected by a physical ailment. Our team held him to 40, twice.

Will Brown’s last game was yesterday with a lost to University of Hartford, 83-77.
At the conclusion of the game between Hartford and Albany in the America East tournament, there was an extended conversation between Will Brown and John Gallagher at the end of the game. Watching the conversation, I thought it was unusual in light of Covid Protocols. Now I know why the conversation appeared so friendly between the two coaches.

Oh, and he turned it down claiming others told him taking it would be "career suicide".
Bona hired Mark Schmidt instead.

I think I’d go with Grasso all things being equal - not sure how much the school can possibly do to reverse the last 25 years but maybe a middling A10 team is possible
