Can we get a reason why no Louth in the game? Because the coach (whose career trajectory is dependent on winning games) doesn’t think he’s ready to play after (1) an unknown level of competition at the Canadian high school level, (2) not playing in a basketball game for ~10 months, and (3) ~3-4 weeks of practice and strength & conditioning? If Louth looked better in practice than what we’re seeing on the floor, I would bet that Nelson would be playing him. Hopefully it is more 2 and 3 than 4.

We play a pretty similar brand of basketball to Milan Brown coached teams — settle for a bunch of threes, up-tempo, token press that does more harm than good. I’m not really sure what our identity is after 40 or so games.

At the half . . . Colgate, 36-26. HC shooting 29%, a poor 65% on the D-boards. Colgate +7 off the bench, +7 in the paint, +8 in second chances.

#14 must have had a plus/minus of over 20.

#14 must have had a plus/minus of over 20. LiveStats tracks player efficiency, and Records does have a far-and-away game-high of 16.0 by that measure.

For those interested . . .
Individual player efficiency is expressed there by a stat referred to as 'efficiency' and abbreviated EFF. It is derived by a simple formula: (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK − Missed FG − Missed FT - TO) / GP.

I’m not really sure what our identity is after 40 or so games. This is nonsense. You’re taking the scores of games and backing into a take. There is far more coaching occurring right now than under Milan. This is a program that finished in last place in the PL the last two seasons, has an average finish of 7.7 in the PL in the past six seasons, and the roster that Nelson inherited was a debacle. The idea that Nelson could have just magically turned everything around in 10 regular months + 8 pandemic months is just idiotic. Where we are right now is about so much more than “X’s and O’s“ - a vague, lazy blanket statement that’s getting tossed around too easily by people who don’t actually know anything about X’s and O’s.

Butler just won't quit. You have to love that energy.

Louth's become the equivalent of every NFL fan with a struggling offense's favorite player- the backup qb.

Butler and Gates are both relentless with second and third attempts under the basket.

When Gates goes to the hoop, he is getting pounded...but no foul calls. The refs did see his travel however.

When the opponent's man mountain has a sweet touch off his fingertips under the basket it's tough for an undersized team to stop.

Gates was pished underneath (two hands on his waist) as soon as he got the ball. He got the hoop but no foul call.

Number me among those who want to see us deep six the full court press - really tired of seeing us get burned like this. Focus on getting back fast, pressure in the half court where we're better.

We need some better defense out of Matt Faw.
