can you imagine, there is not enough equipment for the women’s lax team. Seniors are wearing used baseball shoes, no goggles for the freshmen and 1/2 the team does not have uniforms.

That is terrible...but, sadly, not unbelievable.

Are they holding out for funding from the Bill Belichick Foundation? He filmed a Subway commercial to provide resources for his foundation that helps Lax programs among other things, due to the inability to have banquets and other in-person fund raising activities during Covid. His Foundation shouldn't have to fund a D-1 college program however.

Doesn’t every player who plays enough lax to get recruited to play D1 lacrosse have her own cleats and goggles? Is the issue that there aren’t enough matching cleats and goggles with an HC logo? The season starts March 6. Do we have any reason to believe the squad won’t have uniforms or the right cleats and goggles for the first game? What was Blossom’s response when a concerned coach, player or parent inquired? Surely this wouldn’t first be coming to his attention via Crossports.

Usually when people are worried about the civil rights of people they care about, they don't use the pejorative PC..... If there is a Title IX violation, it ought to be addressed immediately but I somehow think that there is more to this story than you are letting on to us.

Holy Cross has a sponsorship agreement with Adidas for repping their brand for all HC teams. The agreement includes outfitting all teams gratis with uniforms the college sponsors, as well as a financial arrangement with payment to HC athletics for the display of the Adidas logo on HC athletic venues.
For the 2018 season, the women’s team received new home uniform (white) along with new cleats from Adidas based on comparing the uniforms seen personally and in pictures from the 2018 season. The uniforms should be replaced probably for the 2022 season.
I expect that the away uniforms (either purple, maybe black and or gray) from Adidas will be updated this season and supplied to the HC team. This expectation is based on the away uniforms for the 2020 season that still had the previous logo of the knight in battle gear on the jerseys. Take a look at the away game pictures from the games at Fairfield, Brown and Merrimack before the rest of the season was cancelled. The general replacement lifespan for the uniforms is every three years. I was told that the updated logo on the uniforms was going to be phased in based on discussion with Adidas.
Seems to strain credulity that the HC equipment managers Anthony Cantalupo or Brian Banfill do not have the proper equipment for the upperclassmen, plus the nine freshmen for the team taking the field for the 2021 season. Last year, 2020, the roster was 43, for 2021, the roster is 41.
If there is a current shortage, I would be confident that a call to Thomas Bauman or a member of his team at Adidas North American headquarters in Portland Oregon has been made to rectify the issue for needed equipment including practice uniforms and shoes. Holy Cross is not paying Adidas for uniforms based on the current agreement.
Has anyone discussed with Amanda? Or is this again someone talking who has an axe to grind and purposely stating misinformation to churn Crossports.
NJ Crusader, disclose your source! Have you called to determine validity with Amanda and ADMB to get the full report. We await your next posting.

I suppose njcrusader is a parent or very close friend of a lax family - I believe him - this is Amanda Belichick's responsibility -she is a full time coach and should have been coordinating all details for the team's return long ago.

looks like the twitter monitors have affected Crosssports. not sure if i even have to respond, but to close out the loop, and ignoring any attempts to personalize comments, since we are only talking about equipment, if someone within the AD's office receives the message, and they take the steps to address/correct, then my objective would have been achieved. i post based upon personal knowledge, not opinion and with no motivation other than to get the kids properly equipped. I fully support the mens/womens coaches, the AD and the athletic team. i have shown this support through financial support for both the athletic program and lacrosse teams.
i am not going to call the AD or coach, they have more pressing issues dealing with COVID, health and safety of the kids etc... as i said, it is not the end of the earth and hope that the issue is just a matter of a delayed order. it is simple to me, either the kids have the equipment or they don't. if they don't, then its either in process to the campus or its not. but the appropriate person should be on this.

Call Anthony or Brian directly, 508-793-3439. They should be able to address the issue regarding the equipment.

Well if it is a delayed order, it is probably out of Holy Cross hands and more of an Adidas/stick provider problem. They should have enough equipment for last year to use this preseason as there has not been any rule changes with equipment.

About a decade ago, HC entered into a Federal consent decree with respect to the level of support for women's softball. Having learned a lesson from that consent decree, I very, very much doubt that HC would shortchange women's lacrosse with respect to equipment. Might shortchange both M/W lacrosse, but not women's lacrosse or any women's sport compared to its male counterpart.
