Uh - "take the job"? So she has been offered it?
Stop the nonsense.
Pretty sure she would have known before AWP knew that he was going to call it a career, and she wouldn't have come to HC if there was interest in Army on her part.

Is Army that much better as a coaching position?

"Big Dave" is one of the most genuine people I've met in my career. He's had a hell of a run.

Is Army that much better as a coaching position? Might be more money, really don't know how much we are paying MM. BG was by far the highest paid coach in the league, but doubt MM is getting more than $125,000. Honestly, I wonder if his retirement was at all motivated by the fact he clearly did not want to Coach vs his daughter. I'm pretty sure Army never played a regular season game during her time at UNH, but did scrimmage.

Maureen is the favorite to be named the next head coach of Army Women’s Basketball. It’s a place she would like to live and a great place to raise her two daughters and be close to her parents. Dad decided over Xmas to retire.

Dad decided over Xmas to retire. The favorite according to whom? She lives at AWP? That's a heck of a commute. How do you know her parents are going to continue to live there? This all seems like silly talk. In any event she has a contract with HC.

Dad decided over Xmas to retire. I don't have any moral outrage over that. I wonder if a coaching contract at our level has a buyout where the coach pays the college a fee to leave early to coach elsewhere?

Sorry for the typo. I meant to say a place she would like to live and raise her two daughters. West Point would be very happy to get her back and it’s special to be the head coach at one of the military academies.

It would be 4 coaches in 4 years and in this case (family member, age 71, hired during the pandemic; decent chance she'd get the job) she should have stayed at UNH. Again, the new poster may be legit; on the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time a board of this kind didn't have a rumor planted in it that would attempt to make a recruit or recruits change their mind. Don't see any media speculation about the job; does anyone else?

I can't imagine what the 4 Juniors must be thinking - possibility of their 4th coach! I too think it's unlikely, but it would be nice if in lead up to next weekend's games vs Army she puts this to bed.

That means Maureen probably knew about it when she took the HC job, so it is unlikely she would jump ship. Good points about how disruptive it would be to the current juniors. For Avery it would actually be the fifth head coach of her college BB journey.

She got 135k in 2014...

Just a guess that a coach’s salary/compensation may not be the most important thing for all of them. I know that Tom Gilmore loved the culture, not necessarily the administration, while at HC and didn’t look to move, when his record would have made him attractive. Especially for Catholics (Not necessarily “practicing”) and Irish, the “men and women for others” and the Jesuit culture has an attraction for the values that they want for their own young kids.

I highly doubt there is any chance MM will be leaving HC for Army at the end of this season. DM's retirement coincides with his contract expiring at the end of this season. MM certainly knew her father was retiring at the end of this season when she was interviewing for the HC job. If she truly is the "favorite" to land the Army position she likely would have coached out the final year of her UNH contract and slide right into her fathers job after this season which would allow her to avoid the mess that comes with taking a job and bolting for somewhere else after a single year.
