Not sure how there would be one available scholarship unless Reilly isn't on scholarship. Assuming he is, we have 10 returning players and 3 incoming freshmen. If Reilly had ten bucks for every time he has lost and regained his scholarship he wouldn't need a scholarship. Our best board detectives have dissected this issue and it still isn't 100% certain one way or another. Maybe there is a gentleman's agreement he can use the scholarship until the coach needs it back which might mean he has had it for his first two years. He seems upbeat in those slice of life videos the Athletic Department releases.

Why would 2 guys who have something to offer to a Division 1 university not want to move on to some place where their services are needed and get a free year of grad school? A win for everyone. They bleed purple?

Good points as always but I make the assumption that with four coaches and a DOBO there is time for individual work on need areas such as footwork, positioning, shooting etc., in addition to the three practices per week. A DOBO is NOT allowed to "coach" anyone. Here is a job description for Bryant's DOBO hoopdirt.com/job/director-basketball-operations-bryant-university/That's a helpful link. I did know that a DOBO isn't supposed to coach but also observe that the position is often filled by former players or coaches who typically go on to coach again or for the first time after filling the DOBO post. At the least having that position to do all the detail work frees up four coaches to give individual and group instruction. I wonder if Bryant has a DOBO for the women's team who is also a manager on duty for the wellness center and is also required to live on campus? Material for a RomCom.🙂

Reilly was on scholarship last year. I have no reason to believe that changed for this year. We all assume that our 6 freshmen and 2 transfers are on scholarship. Sounds like deja vu all over again with conversations at this time last year Except for the fact we didn't have a statement in a public forum in which the head coach said he still had one scholarship to use. I suspect I am not the only regular poster who heard it. Last year we were having this discussion because there were too many scholarships offered for this year's freshmen class than there was room for and we speculated that Sandy and Reilly were walk-ons. As it turned out the coach apparently knew that some of the Pridgen, Verbeek, Niego, Sandy, and Copeland crew would not be playing for HC this year
