Carmody's teams have consistently been among the poorest offensive rebounding teams in the country, and not a lot better at the defensive end. As KY notes, at least some of the OR difficulty is attributable to the nature of the offense. OR% D1 rank for some teams running a P.O: 15-16. Denver 347, Holy Cross 335, American 331, Richmond 323 14-15. Princeton 350, Denver 349, American 348, Richmond 336 13-14. Denver 332, Richmond 325, Princeton 323, American 295 For those interested, a nice stat site that covers the last twenty years . . . www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/stat/offensive-rebounding-pct?date=2016-04-05

HC was 39th, 36th and 37th nationally in this stat in '02-'03, '04-'05 and '06-'07 (last 3 PL regular season championship teams).

Joe Scott appeared to be the "defensive coordinator" last night. Very active coach.
They are selling gear at the games now.
and we need KC back. - Captain Obvious

Benzan looked really good tonight. Got to the rim in a lot of different ways. Not as much blow by speed as craftiness, it seemed. Hit his free throws too. I had heard the team was messing around a bit with some different defenses; tonight looked like a lot of 2-3, but there may have been some matchup stuff mixed in. Might be imagining this, but BCarm seemed to get more worked up than usual over defensive lapses.Floyd aggressive around the hoop; looks like that's where his offensive game will be again this year. Ziggy looks a little stronger; Ant definitely added some muscle. Weird line for him, but he did have one nice left handed finish in the first half. Although Malachi's shots weren't falling; I'm not worried at all about him. Looks to have about 2% body fat (I kid). Sat in one of those courtside seats, courtesy of the esteemed sader1970. You have to stay awake, that's for sure. Will be nice to see the place with more people in it. Lobby is going to be really nice, I think. Lots of space. Good to see a game! I agree with your observation about CBC's visible reactions to the lapses on D: probably the one thing I took away from the night that he hadn't alluded to/ or directly spoken to at Coaches' Night. No major surprises, I didn't think, from the Coaches' Night talk to last night experience.

I didn't see a 1-3-1 at all but have to admit I was following the ball to be sure I did not catch one in the face. Kudos to NAD for catching one in our direction and he would have caught another but RW would have been proud of me as I got a deflection that caused NAD to miss it. I don't think I can count on Mrs. Sader1970 to have the good hands Dave still has. I said to Dave that it appeared we were passing up some open jumpers in order to try to get inside and it happened often enough to that it looked by design. I have little doubt that while I am sure CWC wanted to win, his primary objective was to try things when it "didn't count." Pat definitely most improved over last year and was playing with a confidence that I didn't see in him last year. We we kept looking for our "Swiss Guard" to take some 3s and I believe he made one but took very few. However, he struck me as pretty basketball savvy and seemed to play well overall and with a lot of hustle. The other two frosh got in late in the game. Good to see that while the crowd was sparse that many of the regular Crossporters were in attendance. As for Carmody's demeanor, he was much more animated than last year and my comment to Dave was that he may feel that having been through a season that not only the freshmen and sophomores are "his guys," but they all are and after the finish last year his own expectations are higher and he will be more demanding of them. Then, again, it might be just the different perspective watching the game at a lower altitude.

we may not have played the 1-3-1 so that our early opponent(s) would not have it on tape. good to use a secondary D, esp if it was effective

Yes, I think that is right hoops. I kept getting the impression that CWC knows everyone will be looking for the 1-3-1 which I assume is still the primary defensive weapon in practice but wants to hone a "change of pace" defense, the 2-3. Some more basketball knowledgable than I thought they saw some match up as well.

Following "stats" during the game had KC in and scoring as I recall

I guess that would be a case of someone literally "scoring from the bench" since he was not suited up and never got in the game. From a little distance, it appeared he had nothing more than a bandaid on the tip of his finger but my eyes are not as good as they once were.

Could have been someone crossing up 01 and 10 (or the spotter stating such) or typing in 01 instead of 02, something like that. From my years at the scorer's table (elsewhere), those mixups are very common in the moment during the game, then resolved before going "official."

I would like to see the team have new warm up jackets, those gray tee shirts that they are wearing look awful. Even Assumption had warm-ups with the word HOUNDS on their shirts or jackets that they had.
