I am clearly biased, but BPC means more to me than anyone from UConn. "Freshman guard Bronagh Power-Cassidy of the Holy Cross women's basketball team has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday, Feb. 9. This marks the second time this season that Power-Cassidy has won the award, as she was previously named the league's Rookie of the Week on Jan. 19. Power-Cassidy was the leading scorer for Holy Cross in a home victory over Army West Point on Saturday, Feb. 6. In the 61-49 victory on Saturday, Power-Cassidy totaled 15 points, just two points shy of a career high, to lead Holy Cross in the win. She additionally had a season-best three assists and five rebounds in the win. On Sunday, she added in seven points and five rebounds in a loss to the Black Knights. Power-Cassidy, who has started all 11 games this year, ranks second on the team in scoring this season, averaging 11.1points per contest. She has reached double figures in six games this year. The Crusaders (6-5) return to action with a trip to Boston University on Wednesday."

rgs, Being the astute observer that you are, I am sure you know that there was a total of ‘3’ (two with HC) games played last week with 6 postponements - B P-C has been very good but maybe calm down just a bit

Two times in a row I think, in any case, certainly is securing a place on the All-Rookie team and a strong contender for ROY

Has the NCAA given this year's freshmen five years of eligibility because of Covid?

I believe that all those on this year's teams received this...but I have not seen anything from the Patriot League agreeing to it...or on the total number of scholarship athletes being expanded for next year or beyond. Also, there is the question of whether HC would go along with this. There are many quyestionsstill to be answered.
I agree that we need to see this team show they can wrap up a win or pull one out in the closing minutes of a game. That is needed to start next season off on a positive note.

Yup...three time (last two in a row). Did someone say otherwise? My bad, I hurriedly miss read you original post. Mea Culpa! I should have known better I wait with great expectation to see how the 5th year plays out in the PL. I suspect all teams will see many grad transfers down the road.

HC's problem is that without grad courses, we can't really bring in grad transfers.

Bronagh leads all freshmen in mpg (27.1) and ppg (11.0), and is seventh in the conference in FT% (80%). Her major competition for RoY would seem to be Army's Lauren Lithgow and Lehigh's Mackenzie Kramer, both of whom have two RoW awards. Lithgow is 4th in the conference in FT%, and has bigger totals by virtue of Army playing many more games.

I doubt your sarcastic point is serious. But, if you are really asking, I am a fan of Holy Cross and its. players, not of UConn. I would have thought my posts made that very clear. After all, the first thing I said in my post was that I was biased toward HC. PS: You might want to explain why you wrote "only anyone from UConn." What does that mean (since I did not say that)?

RGS is correct, all players have 5 years of eligibility via the COVID rule - not just freshmen. If a current Junior on the team wanted to stay for her 5th year there is no HC or PL rule preventing them from doing so - rather it comes down to whether or not the player wants to stay at HC and most likely pursue a double major (vs getting a grad degree) AND if the coaches want to keep the player for an additional year since there currently is still the scholarship cap. My guess is regardless of whether or not the NCAA expanded the scholarship cap the PL would not follow suit since they are already 2 scholarships below the max 15 allowed in WBB.
As to graduate transfers, the PL only allows "traditional" transfers in and no grad transfers - this is a competitive balance rule as some posters previously stated for the programs that do not offer graduate schools. That being said, the grad school programs benefit mightily when trying to keep their own players in house for the 5th year since they can offer the grad degree.

Does this mean that after all the squawking about the PL holding HC back, it's HC as a non-graduate school member holding the PL members with graduate programs back? How would HC compete in the A-10? We couldn't demand they give up grad transfers. Fortunately, I think not having grad transfers is an issue good coaching, recruiting and team building can balance.
