That announcement of the Ice Breaker at the Hart Center was a big one. Hosting Boston College, Northeastern and Quinnipiac could be a great start to next season (In October).

Was originally planned for the DCU, but MB moved it to the Hart. Apparently one of two Icebreaker tournaments this fall, to kickoff the hockey season. He did not say where the other was.

Thanks for the dates, pak. When I heard the moderator talk about a big announcement coming in hockey I first thought of hockey east. Of well, we take what we can get. I would think that having this tournament at the Hart has to be a big plus for HC and for the hockey progam.

Cool tournament. Would rather see it at DCU.
I dislike BC Hockey and Northeastern Hockey so easy to root for HC.

This cool tournament should be at the DCU.

It is awesome to see Buccigross with the announcement. From an atmosphere perspective, the Hart would be a madhouse and a great environment with visiting bands and the like. I suspect it would be difficult to acquire tickets even after this season we are having.
I agree the tournament and fans it would draw might be better suited to the DCU. Maybe this is our chance to show Hockey East we can create a great environment and sell tickets. I hope this is a sign of things to come. And hopefully it is also the first game for our new coach.

This is great news.
And as to the DCU ... if BC, Northeastern and Quinnipiac are willing to come and play in a tournament at the Hart Center, why wouldn't you hold it there as it give Holy Cross an advantage. If you tell me it's in the DCU Center and 7,000 fans are there rooting for Holy Cross and 5,000 for the other 3 teams, I say sure, but until then bring 'em to campus if they'll come.

ADMB said it was originally slated for the DCU, and I'll speculate that HC, and the other schools, decided it might be easier to secure approval from the health department for games at the Hart rather than the DCU. At Mass General / Brigham, only 42 percent of Black employees are willing to be vaccinated. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-13/mass-general-confronts-vaccine-racial-inequity-rooted-in-history College and university campuses could be quite safe, while the larger community still has a sizeable reservoir of unvaccinated individuals come September.

Very cool event, but it’s impossible to take the HC program seriously until we have a competent head coach.

But how many fans will be able to go to Hart anyway. Way more can fit at DCU But atmosphere will be better at HART

Interesting decision. DCU would allow for more social distancing. Perhaps the four schools are planning around no spectators unless it becomes abundantly clear large indoor gatherings are safe. In any case it is good that HC will be putting their facilities to productive use after a long period of stagnation.

If wearing masks is still mandatory at large indoor events come fall, this is probably easier to enforce at HC than at DCU. Also, there is the possibility that admittance will be limited to those who have proof they are vaccinated. That also might be easier to enforce at a private venue than a public one.

Good points and glad HC won't be cutting a large check to the DCU. Sell out the Hart first for all the benefits that brings.

Gophers didn't execute to their potential and we over performed, but you are certainly allowed an opinion

Does Holy Cross have even three locker rooms to socially distance the teams from each other? Everytime I have been underneath with two teams plus refs it has been extremely tight.

The entire Luth Center is loaded with locker rooms I believe. Hopefully nobody is standing on ceremony that they have to use a locker room right off the ice, and all HC teams and coaches are happy to let Ice Breaker teams use their dedicated locker rooms to support the hockey program and public health.

Does Holy Cross have even three locker rooms to socially distance the teams from each other? Everytime I have been underneath with two teams plus refs it has been extremely tight. There are two locker rooms on the west side of the rink, one for the men, the other for visitors; and after the Luth reconstruction of the Hart, there is now one, new locker room on the east side for the women. Before the reconstruction, there were no locker rooms for the women, and the HC women's team used the swimming team's locker room. There are also two locker rooms for visiting teams on the north side of the Hart court, along with a room for visiting coaches, and also a room for what appears to be officials. An unassigned locker room near the football locker rooms may now be softball's locker room.
