McCormack shooting around 25% from 3 before today, and likely to drop more. Pretty good player, but her quick chucking of 3s not helping

They would have had to take the shot violation and leave a few seconds for HC by not attempting a shot.

Now off to Boston tomorrow. I wonder if Janelle will start after her performance today. It is sad to see what HC Has been missing, but it is great that she is back! In the "what if" area...what if HC has not missed so many bunnies early on? Make half of those misses and it is a very different game. Liked the hustle and physical play shown by HC today. Maybe I'm crazy, but based on her playing time even before her injury(?) she seems to be on a minute limit. If not, don't understand why she was not on the floor the entire second half. I agree, way too many empty possessions, also the case in the 3rd qtr. HC defense was the best they've played all year.

That's a new dynamic for all to think about when it comes to returning from injury. Could also be an easing of her back into the rotation and not upsetting the minutes played (all at once) of other players who have played more in her absence and might still be expecting those minutes. Or, like you suggested, some type of minutes restriction based on trainer's input.

Allen 15 /5 in only 16 mins. AL 15, P-C 12. HC killed on the boards 44-30. T/O BU 18-13. BU 44% shooting 42% from 3 - HC 36% & 20%.

I guess, I'm thinking restriction as actually, going back & looking at the stats - although she's only played in 7 games, including today, her mins were the most she's played all season

As I suggested on another thread, Petro just not playing well enough to deserve the (28) minutes per game she's been getting - Although I only saw part of the 2nd half, I didn't see Demski on the floor much either. Given their efficiency, you have to play Ezemma and Allen together for significant time. Maybe those Juniors can pick up their contributions knowing there are options for Coach M.

Does anyone think Demski should play more? I don't think she's done very much. Somehow she ended up on the top of a 1-3-1 zone on one possession, which was strange; doesn't exactly fit that particular role.

I do. At this stage, why not? They are not going to be going very deep in the tournament. I've always thought this mini-season would only be an extended pre-season for next year. To be truthful, I can't quite figure out what going on with this group, after very good starts to the season by Petro & McCormack, they've both seemed to have taken a step backwards, at least on offense. Ezemma is a roller coaster ride offensively, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. They have 2, maybe 3 games left (I think they are playing BU again Wednesday), why not play around with your lineups a little,.

Game story in the Telegram.
WORCESTER — Boston University has certainly been the Holy Cross women’s basketball team’s nemesis this season. At the Hart Center on Saturday, the Terriers beat the Crusaders for the fourth time in 2021.
However, HC has shown a lot of growth since a 22-point setback to BU in the season opener, and the Crusaders believe all these tests against the Terriers, the top team in their division, will help them come Patriot League Tournament time.
“It’s definitely unfortunate we’ve lost to them the past few times,” Holy Cross junior guard Avery LaBarbera said, “but we’re getting better, and closer and closer. You only get better when you play against the best.”
Sophomore guard Maggie Pina scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Terriers (10-1) to a 70-58 victory. It was the second of three straight games between the teams, who play again at 2 p.m. Sunday at BU’s Case Gymnasium in HC’s regular-season finale.
The Crusaders (6-7) have clinched a berth in the PL tourney, which begins March 7.
BU also previously beat Holy Cross by 16 and 18 points.
“We’re fighting,” HC coach Maureen Magarity said. “I don’t think the score showed how close a game it was. They’re so physical and big, and they’re playing well. You hope you can catch them on an off day, and we haven’t.
"Give BU credit; they’ve done a great job of really playing so elite. I definitely feel like today we fought harder. We stuck together. I’m really proud of them, and hopefully in the big picture having to play BU so many times will help us come playoff time.”
The Terriers led by as many as 17 late in the third quarter. LaBarbera and freshman forward Janelle Allen combined to score the last six points of the third, and after Pina and senior Katie Nelson opened the fourth-quarter scoring, LaBarbera and freshman Bronagh Power-Cassidy keyed an 8-0 run to keep the Crusaders within eight with 5:16 left.
LaBarbera made a great defensive play to force a turnover, and Power-Cassidy converted LaBarbera’s inbounds pass to highlight the spurt.
“When they went up 17, we didn’t get discouraged,” Allen said. “We kept battling.”
Nelson sank a jumper and junior Riley Childs scored five points in the last 39 seconds to help the Terriers pull away.
“All of us were super focused,” LaBarbera said. “We stuck to game plan. We’re really buying into this and believing we can hang with the top two or three teams. BU is a great team, give them credit, but I think we’re going to be right there (Sunday). It’s a great opportunity and super special we get them again (Sunday).”
LaBarbera and Allen each scored 15 points to lead Holy Cross.
That was a career high for Allen, who had been out of action since Jan. 24 at Lehigh due to a recurring injury. She gave the Crusaders a great lift in her 15 minutes off the bench and also had five rebounds.
“She gives us another inside presence,” Magarity said, “especially against BU and (6-foot-3 sophomore forward Maren) Durant, who is an inside presence in their zone. I thought Janelle did a nice job attacking her, going right at her and finishing in a lot of different ways.”
LaBarbera also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Freshman guard Bronagh Power-Cassidy finished with 12 points. Junior forward Oluchi Ezemma had an off day shooting (2 of 13), but had six rebounds and four steals.
BU led, 39-33, at halftime, and pushed the lead in the third as HC struggled from the field (3 of 15 in the quarter). In the four games, the Terriers have held Holy Cross to 36 percent shooting.
Led by Childs, who had 16 boards, the Terriers won the rebounding battle, 44-30.
Nelson added 15 points and sophomore guard Sydney Johnson 12 points and seven assists.
In a pregame Senior Day ceremony, the Crusaders honored center Shannon Murphy, the team’s only senior. Murphy made her first career start and had a first-quarter rebound.

One nice thing about the back-to-backs is those that had an off day have an opportunity to bounce back quickly.
