HC steady progression vs BU over five games bodes well for the PLT. Don't usually have a chance to measure teams head to head over that long a regular season series.

Avery is to the women's team as Austin is to the men's - the heartbeat Just a great win against a team coming into the game with a 10-1 record

That a big win for HC and a confidence builder. Not sure they will want things to fall their way to get 5-seed though. 6-seed means a game versus American or Navy, a much better opportunity for a win if Lehigh holds position in that 4 spot.

Today. I suspect she will be no worse than 2nd team, but she has had a very up & down year adjusting to life w/out Swords & Manis.
Bravo to the ladies - I certainly didn't think they would end up at .500 this year, kudos to the new staff. Now go find a couple of more bigs, certainly for '22

MM stuck with the zone the entire game. Low score for BU in over a year

True, but although I haven't seen much of Navy since early in the season, I did watch the last 2 American games vs Loyola & AU is sorta just like BU (by the way, Loyola is just snakebit, very easily could have won the 2 games) Lehigh lost to Lafayette today 70-60

They would love to win the PLT on behalf of Manis, Swords and the other seniors last year who had their horse shot out from underneath them.

Perhaps I think this group wants and needs their own identity You are right, if this year's team puts it all together in the tournament it will be their tremendous achievement. I thought last year's team was peaking just as the season was cancelled on them. This team appears to be improving as the season progresses also.

Always a chance Covid becomes the great equalizer in the PLT. Teams who remain safe and disciplined will be rewarded by not being short-handed or having to forfeit contests.

Four wild HC 3 balls, bu rebound and made 4 baskets, closed the gap quickly My only complaint w/the game. HC was up 20-10, then down, 24-22. 14-2 run before a time out called. Some terrible shots, some plain missed shots, and some glaring mistakes during that stretch. Thought that was coaching malpractice. Happy the kids came from 8 down to win, however. Rebounding effort was impressive, especially after they were manhandled (or is that womanhandled) in that category on Saturday.

It was very odd. For an undersized team, they have been pretty good at rebounding, pretty much dead even, averaging 35.7 vs 35.4 per game.

Actually they are a bit better than dead even, given that HC has missed a lot more shots than their opponents - meaning a lot more defensive rebounding opportunities for their opponents. Those are rebounds that the opponent should get about 70% of the time. HC has grabbed 71.7% of available defensive rebounds and 31.2% of available offensive rebounds. That essentially means HC gets about 51.5% total while its opponents get about 48.5% after adjustment for type.

BOSTON — Fifth time's a charm.
Facing Patriot League nemesis Boston University for the fifth time this season thanks to a modified COVID-19 schedule and for the third time in five days, something had to give for the Holy Cross women's basketball team.
Led by HC senior guard Avery LaBarbera's game-high 26 points that included four 3-pointers, the Crusaders managed to hold on and get past the vaunted Terriers for the first time this season with a 60-52 win at Case Gym.
LaBarbera's team-best four steals and seven rebounds also led the way, as team defense helped spur the Crusaders late and avoid a season sweep at the hands of the Terriers.
In the process, Holy Cross (7-7, 7-7 PL) handed BU (10-2, 10-2) its first loss at home in 10 games, a streak that dates back to last season.
Emily Esposito and Sydney Johnson paced the Terriers with 12 points apiece.
LaBarbera, Bronagh Power-Cassidy (8 points) and Addisyn Cross powered the Crusaders to a 20-10 lead in the first quarter, but the Terriers rallied to take a 30-26 edge into halftime.
But the Crusaders used 26 fast-break points and limited BU to connect on just 3-of-16 from downtown to snap a two-game skid.
Cara McCormack added eight points and seven rebounds for HC.

Impressive win. After those first two BU games at the beginning of the season, I didn’t think there was a snowball’s chance we’d be able to beat them this year. Good game plan by the coach and execution by the team. Well done.
