Mike McMahon is reporting that we are out of the AHA tournament due to COVID protocols. Not surprising and probably avoids an embarrassing outcome on Tuesday

That is terrible for the team. I hope that the 2021-22 season is a chance for a fresh start on all levels for HC hockey.

I don't imagine we will ever know, but I certainly hope that the positive test on this team, men's basketball, and baseball are not somehow related, i.e. through a staffer whose job had maskless exposure to all three squads.

HC has reported no staff positives for a while, since Feb 27. Most likely the positives for baseball and men's ice hockey are athletes. Basketball could be either a player or a manager. It seems that HC women are continuing to compete. Cross country M/W competing today at Lehigh. Volleyball @ Colgate this evening.

During a pandemic, it is inevitable that student athletes and staffers will test positive. Many teams across the country have been paused as well, so we are not in this alone, albeit the unfortunate timing. That being said, it appears across all sports, more teams have contact traced and isolated rather than pausing an entire program and ending playoff participation. This is possible with larger programs, and in general, a basketball team is unlikely to be able to still compete vs. a football/lacrosse team, however, I wish the athletic administration (or who knows this policy is probably coming from the outgoing President) took a different approach.
For hockey, let's start fresh in September. Where do I send my coaching resume?

I like how it said "pausing team activities...to miss the Atlantic Hockey tournament".
Are they holding out the possibility of getting an at large bid to the NCAA's? "Pausing" should be replaced by some other verb. Season's ovah.
And unlike basketball, seems like no one was thrilled about playing more games anyway things are so bad.

Did the players want their season to end prematurely ?

Players want to play. While it has been a difficult season, I'm sure they're very disappointed.
No Senior Day, either - tough way for them to go out.

Your last point - no senior day - is the worst thing about how their season ended. I wonder if this will make them hungry to turn things around next season?

When I read about all things that have transpired as of late with the Calgary Flames in the NHL (and to a degree in Montreal), the state of this HC Hockey program is incredibly similar. While pro and college levels certainly have their differences, one thing is exactly the same: performance matters. And when performance isn't there over and over again, changes are made.
We shall see what comes of the weeks and months ahead at HC, as Blossom is on record as stating performance is expected.

Not just performance...IMHO winning performance is what is now expected.

A change is warranted but it's costly. I think it would be good if the AD signals what his decision is soon as uncertainty isn't helpful.

I think a Go Fund Me might be necessary for that buyout!

After getting almost half way through the semester without many issues, having tier one members of four different teams test positive seems to be a bit of a coincidence. It is very possible that there is a connection between these four people that goes beyond the connections shared by the HC community as a whole
