Well it is Lent, so... Have you heard of the God Minute? It is an Amazon podcast that lasts about 8-10 minutes each day. My wife and I start the day with it. Now they have a special series for Lent. It is at the site " praybeautiful.org." If you go to that site, they have some short videos that expain what they are doing. If all you do is check out the God Minute (even once) that would be great. Bottom line for Lent is that they are using almsgiving to raise money for construction of a 2 room schoolhouse in Kenya. The site is Vincentian and the almsgiving video explains how the giving works. Their goal is within reach ($11,000 is. the cost of a classroom) and the way they set up donations is interesting. I hope you might check it out. If you do, I would love to hear about it. The idea of people of CROSSPORTS being there for others strikes me as appropriate for Lent. I plan to make another donations for each CROSSPORTS person who makes a donation in the next 6 weeks. Thanks for "listening." Be well. Rob Stevenson '67 PS: As is said...no gift is too small.

I enjoyed Father Ron's pre-Lenten video but could not find the almsgiving video--could you provide a direct link?

Okay-I figured it out and made my donation to this worthy cause.
I've been a member of the Society of St Vincent de Paul for 20+ years and, similar to this Kenya project, one of the programs that my Conference supports is Ecole Jean Paul Deuxieme (St John Paul II school) in Haiti.
I thought I recognized the background for Father Ron's video--I believe it is St Louis Cathedral (the new cathedral), my old parish in Saint Louis, America's most spectacular church building.

Correct! He is in St Louis. I just got in from helping my wife shop (and dropping off our taxes to our accountant). I am glad you made it work. An alternative - if anyone needs one - is to go to pray beautiful.com. There are buttons there for a direct donation and for each of the three other videos (prayer, fasting and almsgiving). Be well.
