Can someone explain to me why we look so much better without Gates Do we look better now because our best player is out, or because we are at what would be the equivalent of the midway point in a normal season, our freshmen have become acclimated to D1 basketball and improved to a point where they can contribute significantly more than at the start of the season, and the team as a whole has had the chance to gel during what should have just been the OOC schedule with a mix of challenging games and cupcakes (compared to playing. 10 of our 16 games against the preseason favorites/2-year defending champs)? Not the best, but one of the best. Agree with the rest.

I believe I saw ADMB congratulating the team at game's end.

Can someone explain to me why we look so much better without Gates 1. Up until now we've relied too much on Gates. When he's double or triple teamed the offense has ground to a halt. It's good for him and the team to take some of the burden off him. 2. The freshmen have adjusted well (all of them I think) to the college game. It took some time. 3. With so many parts it has taken the team a while to learn to play team defense. At this level you don't win without good team defense. 4. Nelson has had time to figure out his rotations.

2020-21 Patriot League Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll 1. Boston University, 148 points (10) 2. Colgate, 142 (8) 3. Loyola Maryland, 122 (1) 4. Navy, 114 5. Lafayette, 98 (1) 6. Bucknell, 77 7. Army West Point, 70 8. American, 63 9. Lehigh, 48 10. Holy Cross, 18
I personally find this astonishing that seemingly, the only team we CAN beat (feels like the only team we play lol) is BU.

With his outstanding performance last night AB moved up in a number of career statistical categories. He passed Malachi Alexander and is now #21 in points scored; another dozen points and he'll pass the great Gene Doyle and join the Top 20. He's now #5 in games started, #7 in 3 point attempts, #5 in 3 pointers made, and #6 with 31.6 minutes played per game. No doubt he's near the top of the list in floor burns but I could not find specific data there....

Would love to see all 10 teams in the tournament and a Game 7! Seems only fitting since its 3-3.

Oh, and I've dome Matt Faw an injustice in failing to note that he has joined the Top 10 shot blockers and has reached #8 on the list with 106, knocking Dave Dudzinski out of the top ten and passing John Young and Patrick Tutwiler

Great effort last night it was obvious from the start that we were much more ready to play than BU. Faw and Butler were tremendous for the second straight game. Martindale also had a very strong game and while the offensive consistency isn't there yet it's obvious he had the tools to be a good scorer. RJ had a strong game and continues to show that the PG position is in good hands for the foreseeable future. The rest of the guys played nice complimentary roles and the outcome was never really much in doubt. It seems we have an interesting development with Gates situation. While he's been out, it's obvious that the lane is open and guys are getting to the hoop much more easily than is the case when he's in there and defenders are clogging the lane. Should be interesting to see what happens when he returns. Great to see that Matt and Austin will be able to end their careers with a chance to play in the tournament.

Also on the frosh front, from what we have seen of Rabinovich, it looks like he can be an effective defender.

Gerrale was our best player for 14 games. We would not have competitive in any of them without him

IMHO, if anyone forgets all Gates has done they are making a huge mistake. It seems that HC its getting better with every game and with his return, can be better still. A true 10 player rotation (9 used in each of the last 2 games) is something that we could not have dreamed about for some time. And, we still have a developing Coulibaly to add to that. I don't want to rush anything. Let's enjoy this season's finish and worry about next season starting after that. GO CROSS GO!

Nobody's questioning that Gates was our best player but you can't discount the fact that we played our best two games of the year without him as driving lane were not cluttered with numerous defenders ready to confront him. Not a knock on Gates just a fact that I'm sure the coaching staff has to consider.

Necessity is the mother of invention. I am looking forward to seeing how the coaches work with whomever is well and ready to go.

Warm up the Silverfox!!! Great and happy trip back to the WOO!!! Best game of the year both offensively and defensively!!! Lots to be happy about going forward, beating a veteran and experienced team!!! best game I can remember in a long time. Like years. This game reminded a little of the win at Mohegan Sun over Stony Brook, Austin's sophomore year. A quality opponent, but a comfortable victory. AB had a great game in that one as well - sitting on floor level with Sader1970 and Sader 81, will never forget AB winking at us casually on his way up the floor after a 3 (when SB was making a bit of a run). I think he could sense we were getting a little nervous. Thrilled the season is not over!
