See the note below, an invitation to participate in the annual "The Jerome" NCAA Basketball Tournament . I've put the link to the website at the bottom . This is a fun tournament in my opinion
Hello, my friends, we meet again. It’s been a while, where should we begin?
How about with a sprinkle of college basketball shenanigans at a time so in need of levity? In that fun spirit, for the 21st straight year (except the year we skipped and the year the games didn’t finish), The Jerome is back.
Step right up, put your pride and reputation on the line, and choose the winners of the 31 Division I men’s college basketball conference tournaments over the next couple of weeks.
Deadline for the first set of picks is Monday, March 1 at 6 p.m. eastern. Deadline for Week 2 is Monday, March 8 at 6 p.m. eastern (Week 2 entry form to be released later).
OK, now for some this year’s many quirks.
Three conference tournaments start before the first set of picks are due. The America East will be down to four teams (then again, the Northeast is starting with four teams). Some advice? Don’t pick a team that’s been knocked out.
More advice - don’t pick a team that isn’t in its league’s bracket. This is more prevalent than ever, with some teams opting out, and some leagues shrinking their fields.
Once you make your pick, that’s your team, ride or die or pause. If COVID bumps your team from a tournament, you’re bumped from scoring points. Rub your rabbit’s foot and hope for the best.
For sure, there are countless other COVID-related possibilities. We’re not in a spot to list if-then cases for all of them. So, we’ll do the best we can to be as fair we can as we merrily roll along.
Two more items. First, as in past years, we thrive on participation. Invite your neighbors, colleagues and followers, even if they’ve been indicted or show-caused. Actually, especially if they’ve been indicted or show-caused.
Our Original 3 has multiplied to more than 1500 friends of The Jerome in the mix these last few years, and there are always more places at the table. So if you have pals who want in, share the links in this email. A follow on Twitter (@thejeromexx and @senditinterns) and an eye on our hashtag (#TheJerome) are good resources, too.
Second, I am judge and jury for any conflicts. I will try to be quick at the monitor.
Enjoy The Jerome, everyone!
