I think that Austin has a shot at being a NBA draft selection (Payton Pritchard?). For the record, I also predicted that Lauren might be drafted. P.S. Congrats, Austin, on second team selection; and if you're not drafted, come back for another year.

Is the NBA planning on expanding the draft back to ten rounds like in the old days? Or 21 rounds like in really really olden times?

I take a back seat to no one in my appreciation and respect for AB, in his unremitting effort on the court, his leadership, and his willingness to ride it out through some challenging times. None of this is diminished when I say I do not believe that he will be drafted by an NBA team. Few athletes accomplish what he did at the D1 level. Far fewer ever play in the NBA. It is rarified air.

NDgrad is quite the optimist - his cereal was spiked with something this morning - love AB and hope he gets a grad year somewhere - maybe our poster can contact mike Brey at ND

I predicted that he would be drafted, not necessarily play. Some of the recent Celt's draft picks are no better than Austin IMHO.

I predicted that he would be drafted, not necessarily play. Some of the recent Celt's draft picks are no better than Austin IMHO. They're actually all better than Austin. No disgrace in that. Payton Pritchard, for example, was First Team All-American, Pac-12 POY, and winner of the Bob Cousy Award. He's not going to be drafted.

I assume everyone has seen the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article about AB that HC MBB tweeted today?

“I gave it my all,” he said. “I stayed loyal. I trusted the process, and I’ll be graduating from Holy Cross. That’s something I’ll always be proud of.”
Austin's quote really sums up his HC career. He has set the bar of what playing for HC means to a REALLY high standard. I will always be grateful to him for his time on the Hill.

Great article, great fighter, overcame resiliency, never-- and I mean NEVER-- got the breaks that some players might get. Great man, great Crusader. All the best to him. I do not anticipate that will be in the NBA.

I just discovered that there are only two rounds to NBA draft so, I agree, he won't be drafted. Amending my prediction to: some NBA team will give him a tryout. And I did not eat cereal this AM, have no intention of contacting Mike Brey because I want him to play again for HC.

Fine article. My only criticism is the author referring first to 6 teammates leaving the program, then mentions that subsequently 8 more left. Things were bad, but not 14 bad.

Peyton was one of the best players in college basketball. He reminds me of another Holy Cross graduate who ran point for a few years for the C’s.

Congrats, Austin, on second team selection; and if you're not drafted, come back for another year. I don't think a 16 ppg scorer in the Patriot League is going to get drafted. Payton Pritchard averaged 20.5 ppg as a senior in the Pac-12.

Fine article. My only criticism is the author referring first to 6 teammates leaving the program, then mentions that subsequently 8 more left. Things were bad, but not 14 bad. Not just teammates but the author says six members of Austin's recruiting class causing the six to leave. That class had six to start. If six members of that class had left, there would be no article to write about Austin sticking it out. While we're at it Has anyone told Kyle Copeland that he apparently decided to transfer. Nitpicking aside, it is a nice write-up in the home town paper of a kid any of us would be proud to call a fellow Crusader

This is a very difficult year to look to transfer for a 5th year with many high D1 seniors (non NBA prospects) choosing to do another year.
