Syracuse and WV playing some nice AAU basketball. The death of the 2-3 zone as a viable primary defense is greatly exaggerated.

PAC 12 easily the most dominant conference in the tourney thus far, Big 10 laying an egg, who saw that coming.

Fran is getting absolutely blitzed...Ducks up 93-77 with 3 and change left...Garza has 36 and it hasn't mattahed a whit.

It probably makes me a bad person but watching McCrybaby get drilled in front of a national audience makes me happy.

He’s laughing all the way to the bank after the extension he just signed - it’s amazing how many multi million $ coaches have lost to guys making a fraction (not in this game tho) - fun to root for underdogs

It is what makes the tourney and I think the NCAA knows it at least I hope they do. It would kill the tourney for many of us if the NCAA did to hoops what it did to football. i have little desire to watch a tournament of the top 64 teams according to Jay Bilas.

I would definitely lose most of my interest in the tourney without the low and mid-major schools. I’d watch the Final Four but that would be about it.

PAC 12 easily the most dominant conference in the tourney thus far, Big 10 laying an egg, who saw that coming. Usually, I expect the Big 10 to choke pretty badly in the tournament. This year, I fell for the hype. 9 teams in. Only 2 teams left and neither one has punched their Sweet 16 ticket yet. They were projected to have an incredible 4 teams in the Elite Eight. Three of those four eliminated before the opening weekend is over.

Tom, I agree. The only thing that might have made the B10 collapse better would have been if they had been picked by Mike Francessa. His picks were often remarkably bad for someone whose opinion seemed to carry such weight...and he seldom admitted that he was simply wrong. There was always some explanation as to why the fault was never his. That conference will still divide up a lot of money for these losses.

Heading into the Sweet 16 we've had some minor shifting in the standings. HCNATION, one of our first round leaders, now has sole possession of 1st place - with a gaudy 97.5 percentile showing, while our other co-leader, BPOB55 has slipped into a tie for 3rd place tie with ACTP and espnfan is still alone in 2nd place. The pitiful Big Ten performance has eviscerated several brackets and will further come back to haunt some of our current leaders. The chances of our eventual winner riding in on Gonzaga are pretty high.

I have Illinois winning it all in our bracket. It might not have been over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, but with all my horrible picks, this bracket challenge is over for me LOL, You still did better than I did! I tried 3 times to get my picks to stay on line, I gave up.....Oh well, we can look forward to next year! I just looked at my printer basket, and the bracket I filled out got printed..And I am listed in the Patriot League cohorts, but not as DiMarz...I somehow got named "espnfan29605398". Classy name if I don't say so myself, and I'm ranked 2nd.... It's a good day!...lol

The Sweet 16 games were a mixed bag with some one sided affairs along with some exciting games. There are still three #1 seeds alive going into the Elite 8 and a 12 and an 11. Could there be more upsets next week-end? HCNATION and ACTP have separated themselves from the rest of the pack and are now tied with 96.6 percentiles. I'm quite impressed.

Gonzaga continues to roll along. They are a lot better than I thought they were after seeing them play a few more times....UCLA won their game with some great free throw shooting. So far, it has been a very interesting tourney.

UCLA won their game with some great free throw shooting. UCLA didn't win the game by shooting 80% on FT's. Alabama lost the game by shooting 44% from the stripe.

In related news, one of the girls on my fourth grade team stepped to the line with 20 seconds left in a tie game yesterday and drained both. Those were her first points of the day. Ice water in the veins.

This new schedule for the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 has been horrendous. Spreading out Sweet 16 games from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM EST does not work for anyone with even a bit of responsibility on the weekend (especially after using every bit of good will to squeeze out as much time as possible during the first two rounds), and now there’s Elite 8 games starting at 9:57 EST on Monday and Tuesday nights.
Hopefully, it’s just a one-year thing due to COVID because the normal Thursday/Friday night Sweet 16 schedule set up two of the best nights of sports in the year. Able to see the finish of all four games and flip to another game if one was a dud.

It's amazing Alabama came as close as they did with both their leading scorer and the SEC POY having terrible games. Jones never recovered from the 2 fouls he committed in the first 40 seconds of the game.

Alabama chose to die by the three- 7-28 Contrast with Baylor, which usually relies heavily in the three, totally changed tactics vs Nova when their 3s were not falling in the first half.
