I really don’t know where the PL goes from here. It is becoming somewhat comical at this point. Also, the toll it must be taking on the players and coaches to have to endure this kind of an emotional roller-coaster must be quite unsettling, especially when so many other aspects of society are moving in a positive direction.

Set up wacky protocols, get wacky results.

So, I'm assuming (always a dangerous proposition), best case scenario (for us) is that the Bucknell game is cancelled as they are in the South division. We then play Colgate on 4/3 and Fordham on 4/10? Three games and then the PLC game?

Not sure how we select a North division champion under that scenario unless someone wins out.

At this point I suggest we put together a football team made up of Crossports posters and we play the team at Fitton Field and the winner gets the newly-minted Crossports Cup.

If only one team is left standing, they win.

...so HC's goal is to remain undefeated, as they are currently.

Set up wacky protocols, get wacky results. Well, what protocols would you have set up?

I really like this idea. Whats the offense looking like? Heck what is the roster looking like? I think we could keep it close for a little while.

Okay with me rain tonight & tomorrow... sunny Saturday...wonder about the Fitton turf It will be softer than uh, uh, uh. However with the game cancelled the only one walking on the field will be the person who adjusts the number of undefeated seasons on the sign.

Being completely honest, I think I could round up a bunch of guys in their 30’s on defense and absolutely dominate our current offense. On offense, it would be tougher as I do think the current talent pool is good on the defensive side of the ball. But, still think the alumni could pull it off coming off the couch. Haha

Again, Holy Cross football game is called off for Saturday
Positive COVID-19 test in Lehigh program cancels Saturday's replacement game for Fordham postponement

Telegram & Gazette
The Holy Cross footballs will remain on the sideline this weekend after the cancellation of a replacement game against Lehigh, last week's opponent.
WORCESTER – Holy Cross football coach Bob Chesney’s maxim for this unpredictable 2021 spring season, “The only thing we know is what we know at this exact second,” might not ever be as applicable as it was this week when the Crusaders’ schedule for Saturday changed three times. Following the postponements of HC’s originally scheduled home game against Fordham and Lehigh’s game at Colgate, the Crusaders and Mountain Hawks planned to play each other for the second week in a row, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fitton Field, but the game was canceled Thursday afternoon due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Lehigh football program’s Tier 1. So the Crusaders went from playing Fordham to having a bye week, to playing Lehigh, to again having a bye week. “This week just wasn’t meant to be,” Chesney said soon after coming off the practice field Thursday night. “Hopefully we’ll be back at it next week. We’re excited for that opportunity, and hopefully it presents itself.” HC’s game next week at Colgate also was postponed because of a positive COVID-19 test among the Red Raiders’ Tier 1 members. The makeup date for that game has not been announced. The next game on HC’s schedule is April 3 against Bucknell at Fitton Field. The plan is to play next week, Chesney said, but the opponent has not been determined. “I think we’ll be fine,” Chesney said. “We still have the potential to get all of our games in.” Also on Thursday, the Bucknell-Lafayette game scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test within Lafayette’s Tier 1, so there will be no Patriot League games this weekend. Holy Cross opened the season with a 20-3 win at Lehigh last week. The Crusaders’ game against Fordham, postponed due to COVID-19 return-to-play protocols following the Fordham football program’s recent pause, was rescheduled to April 10. “Our coaches did a great job of battling through (the changes),” Chesney said. “At one point, we had three different game plans going through the week. Once you say go and change the team, things don’t slow down, things pick up, and our guys are really only going to prepare one way, and that’s to the best of their ability.” The Crusaders practiced outside in the cold rain Thursday. “We thought it would be a great opportunity to catch a bunch of punts,” Chesney said. “We did a hands team and we did some pass game stuff to get used to catching and throwing a wet, cold, heavy ball and operate through that. It’s something we’ll eventually someday face. “We’ve been saying take everything one week at a time,” Chesney said. “I think this week proved it’s one day at a time.”

Regarding protocols - I've heard through the grapevine that they are simply too difficult to maintain and get the results they need to play games. Phreek asked what protocols would you set up to another poster? I honestly don't know, but what I do know is that the people directly involved with the situation saw from a mile away that with the current protocol set up this was bound to fail. I don't have specifics, but that's where the frustrations lie. The plan didn't have chance.
With that said here's hoping they get the 4/3 and 4/10 games in, then get the 4/17 championship in. If so, that would still get them 4 games heading into the playoff with more practice time along the way. To me that would still be a positive outcome - of course assuming they make the championship game and win the championship game.

Lehigh is scheduled to host Bucknell on March 27. Assuming Lehigh is prohibited by COVID rules from playing next weekend, perhaps our game vs. Bucknell on April 3 will be moved up to March 27 and we will reschedule Colgate for April 3.

Whatever the protocols are, they have resulted in 4 of six teams being sidelined this weekend. Hard to imagine we’re going to go from 4 this weekend to 0 every other weekend for the next month.
