True KY.....at the same time, you ALWAYS had to be aware of where Jaws was on the floor. It's that threat that can open up things for others nearer to the basket (stretch the defense, if you will).

KY is correct that 3 point shot efficiency comes and goes game to game that's why it's so important to play consistent defense and have players that are not one trick ponies. I bet if you look at the games Jaworski shot poorly from beyond the arc he stil found a way to put up double digit points. AB is another example, over a 6 game stretch he hit only 25% of his 3 point shots but still found a way to score. Look at Baylor last night a season long 40% shooting team hit 16% of their three's but still won by playing great defense and by having players that were capable of driving the ball to the hoop when their shots weren't falling. Agree with BBC that Nelson wants to play an up tempo pressing style but I'd love to have an aircraft carrier like Woodward or Records as it's nice to have players that can get easy baskets inside and as NAD said open up open shots by playing inside out offense. Hopefully our bigs develop this year because the league has many good young bigs returning next year.

One thing I'm liking is the flexibility it looks like we could have at the point guard position. You have someone like Dorsey, when more size is needed on the perimeter; an explosive (on paper) kid like Luc who could cause problems for teams with his speed; and a kid like RJJ who combines quickness and power with some real court savvy. Should give Coach Nelson plenty of options.

Plus the ability to play at least two at the same time

IMHO, with that many PGs, a full court press should not be as much of a threat,

Plus the ability to play at least two at the same time With one of them being 6’5”, you could’ve probably play all 3 at the same time.

Could be our hook to our first sustained national recognition since Gordie: the five PG lineup.

RJ had the ball whenever he was on the floor last year, not having seen Dorsey or Luc play i assume as point guards they played with the ball in their hands most of the time. It would be nice if they can transition to playing the off guard as well, but I don't think it's a given as its a different game playing without the ball. It will be interesting to see how it works out but one thing for sure there's not enough minutes for 3 point guards to share on a consistent basis.

Multiple skilled basketball players usually have little difficulty with position names. Just as the term “wing” has evolved into players who can do many things, I have confidence that the coaching staff will find time for players who show the most ability to get on the court.. Many teams are moving toward position-less offense. Look at Baylor, playing at least 3, sometimes 4 multiple skilled guards at one time They alternate who initiates the offense. Two are projected to be first round /lottery draft picks. Some past successful Villanova teams have done the same.

Can you imagine telling NFL players years ago there would come a day when a player could make a living in the league based solely on his ability to snap the ball on punts and field goals. If you are a guard in college hoops, you should be able to play the point or a wing. I suspect we will see a lot of a 3 guard rotation next year, we did this past season, so there will be a lot of playing time to be divided among our guards. Also, we don’t know if Dorsey will be eligible next year and unfortunately, injuries are also a factor.

I had thought that any transfers from this years were automatically eligible next season. No?

Basketball at all levels has, to a large degree, become "positionless", but if there is one exception to this trend it is point guard. Not all guards can play point guard, and not all point guards can play shooting guard. Hopefully, Nelson has recruited players who are versatile enough, and willing, to play multiple positions.

I just found a short article on the topic. It wasn’t kicked very far down the road. The NCAA is going to vote on the subject at its meeting after the upcoming Final Four. The vote to eliminate the sit one year requirement for your first transfer is expected to pass and be enacted beginning next fall.

We are going to put your name on the back of your uniform. Unlike the one on the front that is stitched, the one on the back is attached with Velcro.

In the not too distant past, I remember off guards/wings Austin Butler, Eric Green, and Andrew Beinert being thrust into the point guard position. Beinert's turned kind of long term

If this passes, potential transfers will become more attractive to given schools and that will expand the pilfering and seedy recruiting

The smaller players who show a lot at our level, going to be tough to keep them.

If Zagoria’s source is correct, all first time transfers can play immediately. It will soon become official
