Former Holy Cross coach is special teams coordinator there. Good call. Was wondering what the connection was that got him to Detroit. Coach Fipp was our special teams/secondary coach in 1998 and 1999.

Pretty sure his agent had a lot more to do with it than someone who last coached at HC when Raymond was in kindergarten.

^ Pretty sure his agent had a lot more to do with it than someone who last coached at HC when Raymond was in kindergarten. True. I just think there’s usually a connection when a free agent signs with a new team. Perhaps Fipp followed Kalif more closely than other special teams coaches without the HC connection. Perhaps not.

Looking forward to seeing him in the Honolulu Blue and Silver. Perhaps he can help the Lions to their second playoff win since 1957.

If I have to follow a new team, one coached by Dan Campbell should be highly entertaining.

Details of Kalif’s new contract. It appears he gets $249,500 even if he never plays a down for the Lions. Not too shabby.
Kalif Raymond Base salary: $990,000 ($112,500 guaranteed) Signing bonus: $137,000
2021 cap hit: $987,500 (veteran discount)
Raymond has three accrued seasons in the NFL and therefore qualifies for a veteran minimum contract that comes with a team-friendly discount. Raymond looks to be the Lions leading return man and most experienced slot receiver at the moment, but with only $250,000 in guarantees (guaranteed salary + signing bonus) he is still likely entering training camp competing for a spot.
