Would definitely make sense to have Lehigh play Bucknell. We’d finish out our division games and get our third game in next weekend. If everyone can get at least three games including their two division games, that seems decent. Not sure if that’s possible for all teams or not.

I’d expect the PL to wait until testing is completed tomorrow to make a firm decision, as a positive COVID test from Lehigh and/or Bucknell would make the rescheduling issue moot.

If Lehigh and Lafayette can't both be cleared to play on the same week I wouldn't mind if they play the weekend HC plays in the first round of the FCS playoffs so they can get rivalry game 156 in and not break their streak.

It is a bit awkward with CD as a team captain, IMHO. In a perfect world the QB competition wraps up preseason with a single winner - and that guy plays well enough to hold the job. ‘74-‘75 Men’s basketball captains were Dave Holland and Doug Downey. Doug saw limited playing time (mostly for defensive purposes) and Davey saw even less. No issues or awkwardness, as the team went from 8-18 the previous year to 20-8 - by W-L record, the most improved team in the country. Everyone on the roster was happy to be a part of it.

I think most of us are in the same boat re: how we view our QB situation. Don’t think it really helps to pile on a kid who is a team captain and by all accounts a very solid citizen at HC. Speaking of which, CD got some academic recognition today: Good for CD. In the end, that’s what’s important.

Bucknell run defense wasn't quite as good as the stats imply, due to the archaic NCAA system of counting QB sacks as rushing attempts and negative rushing yardage. Once you adjust for that, LC had 17 rushing attempts for 31 yards. I was somewhat surprised by the DL since their best lineman, Grayson Cherubino, who has started since his freshman year, was out with an injury. His replacement at DE was freshman Mike Bright Jr., whose Dad longtime hoop fans may remember. He scored almost 1700 points in the early '90's for Bucknell on the basketball court, was a PL POY, and is still near the top of the all-time steals leaders. Wait, Mike Bright's son is at Bucknell? My mind is blown. Clearly, I'm ancient.

They were my classmates. Dave Holland and Mike Blaney came in on scholarship. Doug Downey was on the freshman team (last season that freshmen could not play varsity) with them and made the varsity the next year in tryouts. He was an unbelievably annoying and tenacious defender when assigned to the opponent's star guard. I believe he may have eventually been granted a scholarship. Joe Carballeira later transferred in to HC and played his last two seasons, graduating in 1975. That 74-75 season, of course, saw the arrival of Potter and Vicens who were tremendous talents

Wish I could disagree, Ray, but yeah - you are getting ancient.

Mike and Dave were out of the playing rotation their senior year (played a bit more the other two years, especially Holland in 72-73). Doug, although extremely offensively challenged, played more than either of them. And Joe was the best player of those 4.

I’m hearing that there is no game this Sat. Chesney has scheduled a Zoom meeting with parents tonight, at which time I expect he will discuss the changes.

^ Hopefully the PL is not scrapping the remainder of the season. Seems to be strange to schedule a Zoom meeting simply to advise parents of a single game cancellation.

Might HC play Colgate to complete OUR pod? Colgate and Fordham are playing each other on Sat., so our game vs. Colgate next weekend will complete our division games. If Colgate wins, our game next weekend will be for the North division title.

^ and if Bucknell beats Lehigh on Sat. they will win the South division. If it’s Bucknell vs. HC in the PL Champinship, I would expect that game to be at Fitton.

Bucknell game flat out canceled on the website. Hopefully means they just play Colgate to complete their pod on 4/10. Question becomes - what happens if HC loses to Colgate and Fordham beats Colgate.

I would assume some sort of statistical approach (e.g. total points scored or allowed) to see who is deemed the winner. Or perhaps a three-way coin toss ala Friday Night Lights.

I don't see how Fordham can win the division. They are only playing 3 games, like HC, best they can do is 2-1 and they will have lost to Holy Cross. Only way HC cannot win is if Colgate beats Fordham and then beats HC.

What a disaster. As this useless league holds HC back again. Along with some of these other teams who could care less. Should have started the season earlier. Let them play 3 games and then try to win an FCS playoff game against teams that have played 8 games. This is ridiculous.
There pods didn't work for basketball and they never learn!
