Halftime. Fordham 21, Colgate 0. Colgate goes for it on 4th and goal on the 2-yard line and is stuffed by the Fordham defense at the end of the half.
I have no idea about how the tiebreakers will work but it seems to me that if Fordham beats Colgate today, Holy Cross will be the North division champ no matter the outcome of the game against Colgate next week. Clearly, if HC beats Colgate, HC is in.
If someone who knows the tiebreakers can show me how that might be wrong, I'd be happy to know that.

They said Colgate's only chance if they lose today is a three way tie but I didn't pick up on the tie breakers if they mentioned them. Coach Chesney said one tie breaker is point differential with a maximum 20 points per contest. But things look good. CU just committed their fifth turnover, a fumble with a long return by Fordham. Still 21-0.

Multipurpose stadiums fell (hard) out of favor for the pros. But Jack Coffey Field gives me a good feeling due to the price of NYC real estate and the utilitarian efficiency of having a turf playing surface right on campus in the Northeast. I almost expected Fordham baseball to sneak an inning in at halftime.

Their baseball team at least may have scored more than Colgate has.

Fordham soccer played on Jack Coffey against U Mass today in a game that began at 11:00 AM this morning. The field is doing double varsity duty today.

When you're a school in the Bronx it kind of fits the personality of its location. I actually enjoy attending games there. Between the traffic, the highrise apartment buildings and constant commercial flyovers it's a fun/unique college football experience. There was a famous ESPN video years ago of a FG leaving JCF and ending up in someone's convertible on the street beyond the north end zone. The place has character....

Fordham running up the score helps them in the unlikely case of a three way tie in our division by Colgate winning next week.
Colgate QB Grant Breneman has chucked four interceptions. I take back any criticism of Connor Degenhardt's play.

I take back any criticism of Connor Degenhardt's play. The maximum point differential a team can achieve is a +20 regardless of whether the final score is more than 20 points. So, barring some unforeseen circumstances, Fordham has locked in a +20 for this game. With their 10 point loss to HC, they are now at a +10.

If we can't beat this Colgate team next week, we don't deserve to go to the playoffs etc....they seem pretty banged up, flustered etc
It is what is...sort of Spring Football+....the Fall season will be the real deal.

I agree with '87 we should handle Colgate easily but it's nice to have a cushion.

If we get to the FCS playoffs, this Spring will be the real deal Mehh....it's already sort of an asterisk season...lot of programs like Montana and Montana St aren't playing, some of the bettah ND St players aren't playing etc etc... I hope we go but the Fall season will be the next true FCS season imo.

I am just not sure how the non-division game results factor into the overall point differential. We have a +17 vs. Lehigh. Fordham and Bucknell play next week. I believe Colgate was blown out by Lafayette so they may be a -20 for their non-division game, which would put them at a -40 at this point if the non-division game counts towards overall point differential.

I think a lot of the sports championships this year, pro and college, will be looked at a bit differently due to covid.

I'll cock my head to any side you want when I look at the championship as long as there's a trophy from this century to look at in the HC trophy case.🙂

If Gonzaga wins the Hoops championship going undefeated and totally dominant, no serious hoops follower will look at them as anything but one of the best teams ever.

I don't disagree but I'm equating this FCS Spring season to more along the lines of the NBA Bubble playoffs, MLB shortened season etc....

Arguing about how to value our national championship will be a lot more fun after we win said national championship. For now, let’s slam the Gate.
